Can drones / fighters be put into a formation?

Hi!

I've been testing out various drone and fighter designs, and tinkering with them while placed in a formation with combat ships in the lead. I have found, however, that they don't seem to function at all in a formation. Whenever placed into a formation, and given orders not to break that formation (via the strategies editor, which is now funtional again, w00t), they simply sit still throughout combat. They'll fire their weapons, if a valid target comes into range, but will refuse to move from their starting position, unless ordered to do so by human imput (which, obviously, is useless during simultaneous play).

Is there anyone who knows of a way to get fighters and drones to work in a fleet's task force formations? I'm running version 1.35 (with the Balance Mod version 1.7, though the error occurs in stock, as well).

Thanks for any response!

Also, on a related note, I've attempted to use the "Retreat Immediately" strategy setting, when turned to "True," in combination with the "Retreat Movement" setting turned to "Stay near our combat ships" to group my point defense ships around my seeker/fighter vulnerable combat ships. However, when given this order, ships seem to use the "Scatter" retreat setting, instead. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is this simply a feature that hasn't been implemented yet?

Thanks again!
