Nebula Rising |

This quadrant of the galaxy had for millions of years been just that, a huge cloud of gas spaning several hundred light years of the expanse...but as with all things the great changer, time could not still its hand. Stars formed and planets followed. and on a few of these orbiting spheres life came to be.
Life and the need to live started together up the long road of evolution on these planets, but as in every journey, unexpected obsticles can appear in the path or simply the way forward is lost. This was not the case for 6 species of creatures that arose on different planets. Products of their enviroments, but with one thing in common...the determination to become their own masters and not slaves to the great changer.
The first steps had been taken millions of years ago, but now new steps had to be taken into the void, if any of these beings were to truely break free of their binds...but will they be strong enough?... Only time will tell.
This is trying to set the background of the Nebula rising quadrant where 6 Empires are starting out on their journeys into space. My own being the Nilith Imperium. If any other players of Nebula rising would like to post here...you don't need me to give you permission

Re: Nebula Rising
We need a structure though, it will be confusing if we just all post our stories here. I think that once we all make contact, it should be written mainly about one of our empires, with imput from the others...
Just a though though.

Re: Nebula Rising
I'll make one as soon as I encounter another race. I seem to have gone colony crazy and now spread across seven or 8 star systems already.

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2401.2 --- First Contact
Battle stations! Battle stations! This is not a drill! This is NOT a drill! Alien starship has been located! Launch all fighters! Scramble! Scramble!
This is what the morning started like at the peaceful trading world 'Southline'. Alarmbells. Schools and shops have been closed. Security forces are patrolling the streets, keeping the people in check. Already some of the large coorporations are setting in motion their plans to sell marbles for fabulous alien technology. We still have to wait for the go from the militairy though.
Standard procedure.. Assess if the aliens are friendly and see if they are open for trade.
The militairy is quite strict on border protection though. We hope first contact will go smoothly.
All we got so far is a big holovision picture on the large viewscreens where the alien species is displayed. They look like cylindrical creatures. Also; The first picture we saw of them didn't show any thick gasseous environment. We think they are rock based. Which is good; Cause then we can co-exist.
We think it's a trick though. How can you live like a cilinder. Perhaps they are hiding inside? We don't know. The militairy is still negotiating.
Exciting though. I hope they'll let us out of our bunkers soon; I'm dieing to see if they want to buy my kartaka. I hope they'll think it's valuable. It looks shiny.
Lets just wait and see how 'they' will respond...

Re: Nebula Rising
Hmm...
You know, we could have several sub-wars, you know, wars that don't kill one side...For pure RP value...

Re: Nebula Rising
Explain abit more by what you mean. I'm afraid I'm not seeing your Sub-War RP concept.
Would we actually be using references from in game occurrences?
Or simply make it up as we go?

Re: Nebula Rising
Well, they would be like fun wars, instead of all out total Annialation. (Allthough those are fun too!
) Like on Earth, lots of countries have had wars with one another, but lots were smaller, not Total Destruction. SEV pushes you towards completly destroying your oppoent should you get the chance, but with lots of smaller wars, there is more Roleplay value. Thats my opinion anyway. So you are basicaly roleplaying about the War, but its not "The War" It's the 2nd conquest of OmminusDesoth for example. (Or in the Assiricans case, the 5th or 6th.

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2401.6 --- Boxed
Coordinator Myrath gazed at the huge starchart displayed in full 3d throughout the room. His fingers followed the lines of the wormholes connecting the systems. A red line formed at the point where he touched thin air, as carefully hidden sensors picked up his movement.
An area of the galaxy lit up with a green glow. 'There', he said. Between the minefields here and here, the grand organic plants here and that radioactive zone here shall do. Our people can grow here; and the borders are good. No surprises. Trade will flurish if we can extend our grasp to these points and bring these worlds to fruitation. Can it be done admiral?
Admiral Foryn looked at the map. It's ambitious sir. But it can be done. I already took steps for this course of action and within a few months all should be set. We've sent militairy vessles to all corners followed by MFDV's and colonists.
How about the militairy vessles? The coordinator said? Any news? Ever since the one big blowout near southline no emergency reports have reached my desk?
Well; It seems combat has been limited to the one incident, the admiral responded. It seems we blew up a colony vessle and killed quite a few aliens. We;ve been collecting lifepods for months and returning as many of them as possible to the wormhole from which the aliens originated. The aliens have steadily picked them up. We've been doing some militairy drills at the wormhole, but all has been quiete.
That's good news, the coordinator responded. We don't want any more hostilities. These strange aliens have proven themselves to be valuable trade partners. Myrath pointed to the yellow dots steadily flowing from the homeworlds to the wormhole and back. See! Tradeships! Who would have thought the aliens would be able to produce such interesting trinkets!. They are also fond of our Mag-esh games. Benificial to us both. The commission of trade is thrilled. We have high hopes. I've even suggested some interesting trades myself, and things seem positive. Let us hope for a peaceful co-existence! We need to find out more about that mythical leader of them though. We hear has has no name....
*SQWAAAK SQWAAAK SQWAAK!* - Sirens sound throughout the central chamber. A star lights up in bright red and zooms in. A booming voice sounds throughout the room. 'Unknown vessle spotted in grid Alfa Alfa One Zero. Shipsize. Frigate. Sensors report weapons present'. Incomming signal. Do you wish to respond?
Admiral Foryn and Myrath stared at the corner of the map; Actually just inside the red circle that was drawn. 'Do you wish to respond?'. Thoughts raced through their heads. More? How many species are there? We know the galaxy is big... but the chances of running into so many races in so little time are infinitly small. 'Do you wish to respond?'
Yes. Accept the signal in the flag room. Foryn and Myrath went into the connected chamber. A neutral room with just flags of the empire and some big chairs. The screen showed a strange being in a thin, almost blueish atmosphere. Eyebrows were raised. Strange. We thought it proven that life could only exist in our air? We thought it proven when we encountered the Xel'Naga. This air deffinitly looked different. The being on the screen made strange chriping sounds. A few seconds later glyphs appeared on the screen, translating the alien sounds. It seems this being too was unable to breathe the thick gasses of gasseous worlds.
The glyphs read 'Wish to trade, we do.'. The coordinator smiled as that is the language he spoke. The admiral however was frowning. Staring at the image of the militairy ship, armed and all, inside one of our systems... The admiral ticked on the screen pointing something out, turned around asif he wanted to say something...

Re: Nebula Rising
"This is no good Ravok." said Yunorl as he walked next to the First Consol.
"Ravok, you must control your anger. It's bad enough that some of the clans are about to declare Ilsen(Holy war) against the Nilth. I don't need one of my finest Centurions helping." replied Ravok calmly.
"I am sorry Ravok. I will not let my red get the better of me. But what are we to do with the council of clans? Dertes is calling for an official decloration of war." Yunorl sighed. "They Dertes are not alone either."
"The Dertes control one planet in the middle of our territories. They should be happy hunting the aboriginal population there." Ravok turned to Yunorl. "I need you to make sure the clans don't make anymore fuss."
Yunorl turned to Ravok questioningly. "Perhaps...and honor combat tourney? Would the Conuncil of the Calm approve of it?"
"If that is what it takes. I'm going to suggest we begin our navy project. The training should calm the population a bit. Farewell Yunorl." Ravok turned and walked to the lift. "Don't fail me."

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2402.0 --- Stripmined Eden
Things go well with the cooperation. Company profits are soaring, technological advancements bring new wonders to our civilization and there is peace. Coordinator Myrath's territorial plans have nearly been fulfilled. We expect we only need one more year to fully claim all the worlds we have set out to.

The Xel'Naga have been excellent neighbours. A border was agreed upon so that we may face other, more unpredictable threats. I know many of our stockholders had quite a bit of champagne after last months agreement. Even Admiral Foryn was spotted smiling on occasion.

The Mithrak are more difficult. Although they have accepted some trades, they have also rejected some. We've traded one of their ships, the INS-INES, for some goods which they found valuable. Unfortunatly we've found 1 MORE of their ships in our systems; Defenselines have already been erected there though. The admiralty is discussing on how to handle this further.
In the evening hours the militairy gave us a demonstration of the new weapon systems available to the empire. For trade to flurish, we must be able to protect our assets. Wonderful new things, these Hivelings. The admiral said he'd be surprised if there was anything like it in the galaxy.
Admiral Foryn explained to us that he did not want to keep our knowledge a secret. It's best if our neighbours know we have these things. Ofcourse, our other technology will be kept more to our selves. We don't want to show all our cards. But it's better for trade if everyone knows. The admiral explained he was planning to send a Hiveling into the ancient minefields, left behind by the Xel'Naga before their departure. Our other neigbours, the Mithrak Imperium, will be introduced probably by sighting it. It is our intention to fully cross the span of their space to see if more friendly tradepartners can be found. Perhaps we'll test it on the remaining alien ship; but we don't want to cause any deaths with such a nearby neighbour. Trade must flow!
Ofcourse more will be sent to more spots, to see if there is more life, or if there is just... void..
All with all, the only down point was made by Resource Manager Cwo. He told us that, even with the soaring profits, perhaps we should slow down a little. The many starbases and spaceyards are all producing at maximum capacity. Even more then trade can generate. His request to use more 'control' was greeted with silence. Although it didn't fall to deaf ears. We are afterall businessmen. We can handle a few months of resession, until things get better again. It will not hurt the long run. Plans have been set in motion. Ships have been launched to every corner of the galaxy.
In a few months, when our checkbook balances out, and we find inferior life forms, then perhaps it's time to introduce a new market. Afterall.. Is it really neccessairy that we do all this work ourselves?

Unnamed: Greetings Chancellors, it has been a tough couple months, but it seems things are starting to settle down. Lets take a moment, and see if we can get a big picture grasp of the situation before the next emergency breaks out. Domestic, your up first.
Pless (Domestic Chancellor): Thank you, Sir. As we all know the transition after Lord Chen’s unexpected departure was not pretty. All aspects of The Empire’s command and control routines were severally disrupted; including Construction, R&D, Exploration Control, Defense Control, and Colonization Control. A few planetary ministers managed to continue executing ongoing orders, but others took actions that were …. well baffling. Nevertheless, over the last few months we have put our own personnel into the key positions necessary to run the empire. Therefore we foresee no further disruptions.
Unnamed: Thank you Pless. Foreign.
Chaldron (Foreign Affairs Chancellor): Sir, the Myr’Sadat has proven to be rather reasonable after the first incidents. We are slowly establishing mutually agreed upon borders with them as we continue to expand. We have also heard rumors through their traders that there is at least one other race in this galaxy, but so far we have received no hard evidence of their existence.
Unnamed: Very well, perhaps it would be worthwhile to request communication channels to this new race from the Myr’Sadat. If they have already made contact they may be agreeable to such a proposition. Send the request along with our next trade negotiators. Urtog, how are the grunts holding up?
Urtog (Defence Chancellor): The boys are itchy for a fight, Sir. They got geared up once, after Chen’s departure. Bloody quarrels and talk of civil war always gets the grunts riled up. Then the encounters with Myr’Sadat put them on edge again. The flyboys are enjoying their new tin cans though. We have begun moving forces towards the frontier regions of The Empire. Stardate 2403.1 --- Diplomatic Storm
Assistant administrator Bellok'la grabbed the rouch wooden pick in his frail hands. His hands weren't ment for hard laybour. The pick in his hand looked crude. This all seemed so very unreal. A spike of pain suddenly flowed through his body. The grumpy looking guard smiled as he rolled back his whip. Get to work you lazy oath! This is what carelessless gets you. To work!
What'd I do? Bellok'la wondered. They have no sense of humor at all in the trade commission. All I wanted to do is spice things up a bit. Tried to get the weapons stocks to rise. I should never have.. *slash*.
Stop staring and get to work the guard snared, now more annoyed. You've cost the trade coorporation billions of credits! Not to mention the diplomatic unrest you caused.
Bellok'la thought back. His memories were a bit hazy, cause it all happened when he was a bit drunk. He had stumbled up to the grand communications array and typed 'we declare war!' and sent the message. The guards in the room rushed in and grabbed Bellok'la, but the damage was done. The stock exchanges crashed immediatly, people ran to the stores and bought everything they could find and the economy fell to a granding halt. The Grand Coordinator himself had to rush in and send an emergency communication to our Xel'Naga neighbours. That this was not intended. That this was a mistake.
But the damage was done. Billions in trade revenue were lost. Thankfully, the Xel'Naga were understanding and re-signed our mutually generous trade package. But it will take time for the tradelines to run at full speed again.
We even requested some financial aid from our neighbours; Ofcourse we offered a fair payment in return.
The ink on the parchment barely dried up or the next item presented itself. The Mithrak seem to have a new president. He opened communications with us at a demanding tone stating that he did not like our presence in a certain system. We were well in our right to claim it ofcourse. The air was pure, and they are rockdwellers anyway. It's a nice borderworld that allows us to keep a close eye on the unpredicable Mithrak. Quite the nerves though! The Mithrak pulled back out of a tech-deal a few months ago. Quite a few small companies went bankrupt on the Mithrak pulling out. Now they want us to sign a non-agression agreement. The coorporation is not very favorable of this idea and has demanded consessions made by the Mithrak. They even dared threaten with violence! We have sent 20 additional warships to patrol the Mithrak border.
Lastly, in these turbulant times, we have received word from our neighbours of more alien races spreadout through the galaxy. We have sent long range diplomatic greetings in hopes of establishing trade relations. Admiral Foryn got a few shivers though, when reading through the reports on the alien races. Demonlike creatures, and races wearing flags that shout of death and decay. We are worried. But we have extended our hand in friendship.
There's even a gas dwelling race among them. This is good in a way that we know that we are not unique. This is bad when you consider that there now is a clear contender for a third of the galaxy.
Exciting times are ahead. New friends. Old friends with stronger ties. And threats from our neighbour. We wonder what is to come. But no matter peace of war. Business will thrive!

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2403.2 --- Threats
Admiral Foryn was briefed first on the communications received from the Nillith Empire. "WHAT!?" he shouted? Those arrogant snails. How dare those mushy slimy beings lay claim on our worlds! Giving us an ultimatum non the less. Look here! '2 years to evacuate your worlds or we'll drive you out'. Where are they from? Where's the intel! I want to know everything! NOW!
The junior officers in the room looked somewhat troubled. Ehm sir..., ensign Mor spoke, I'm afraid we don't know anything about them. Well except for their slimy appearence... Admiral Foryn stared back at the ensign. Fire burned in his eyes. Half a smile formed on his face. But it wasn't a friendly smile. 'THen you better get to work fast, now shouldn't you?' the admiral said.
Ensigns spurted away in every conceivable direction.
I better inform the coordinator. These Nillith sound bad for business. We best also inform our neighbours about this threat. Maybe they know where their from?
Captail Fullok! -yes sir. Divert the new fleet to waypoint 3. It seems we need to send a diplomatic message to these snails..

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2403.3 --- Legend of the Emerald throne
Some two-hundred years ago some escavators on the homeworld made a fascinating discovery. We always suspected that we weren't the first ones to walk our homeworld. But this day. But that day it was proven.
A giant subterranean temple complex was found. It was filled with ancient runes, which, till this day still have not been translated. Most of these runes were damaged.
One chamber remained unscaved though. It passed through the millenia without any trouble. This chamber held 2 thrones. 2 Grand emerald thrones. We think they were the thrones of their supreme rulers. The chamber was filled with images of grand beings spreading life throughout the galaxy. We do not know what happened to them.
Only one of the thrones is in use this day. For the first time in millenia. The right throne enthralled our prinsess, our heiress to the empire. When she visited the museum to see the throne it suddenly glowed. The princes was drawn to the throne. Many guards tried to stop her; but to no avail. Was she to incinerate upon touching the throne like so many others did?
No. While smashing her way through the guards, being a grand master in the martial arts of our world, she reached a throne and sat down. A choir of voices erupted joicefully from the throne. The first heir had reached her throne. On this throne she received a vision of the galaxy and of the future.
She is our princess. She guides us. She steers the hand of our grand coordinator. She puts our admiral to his tasks. She rules.
Now. She has commanded on the thrones sent out into the stars. Out to it's king. The throne will glow for the king. She has foreseen it.
We pray her vision is true.

Stardate 2403.3.2 --- Riots and flames
Independent? What do you mean Independent? Coordinator Myrath was upset.
Yes sir; Idependent, junior administrator Eller said. It seems they used some loophole in one of our treaties. See? It says here... non agression. But it doesn't say anything about colonizing in each other's systems!. It's kinda funny though. They already designed their own flag and national anthem.. everything.
But- the coordinator responded, that makes no sence? That's our system!.
Well.. according to all treaties and bonds it is... but technicly... this world was colonized before we were there.
The coordinator gazed at the administrator. All of a sudden his face turned grim. This cannot be allowed. We cannot have an uprising in the empire. Especially with these Nillith agents slithering around in every dark corner. Send a warship. Put those people back in line. And if they don't wish to... Well.. you know what to do.
Yes sir! Eller responded quickly. And he disappeared behind a rack of communication consoles.
The coordinator mumbled a bit in himself. Now... what to do about those spies blowing up equipment. You! myrath yelled at a nearby worker who turned pale when the coordinator looked at him. Get me research on the phone. I need to talk to 'm now!
A few moment later Admiral Foryn ran in. Sweat drops on his forehead. Sir!! A nillith warship! It attacked 2 of our Hivelings. Didn't even wait to send a greeting. Near the outer frontier. We need orders!

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2403.3.12 --- Royal Bloodline
Princes Iralan stood at the bridge of the destroyer Coronation and stared into the blue wormhole ahead. This is where it first started, she thought. This is where we met them. Will they come?
A flottilla of mines, satelites and fighters circled the ancient wormhole ahead. 70 billion souls were chaned to their viewscreen. All peering at the simmering blue. The future of the empire was being made here.
2 months ago a message was sent to our neighbours, the Xel'Naga. A far going treaty which .. well... had everything. The diplomats were worried that it went to far. The aliens would never accept!... but then again... why wouldn't they? We even included the hand of our princes, an heir to the emerald throne, chosen by destiny itself, into the deal.
The deadline grew closer...
Suddenly; a bright white formed at the center of the wormhole. It expanded in size rapidly. Exploded in size.
Ma'am! Incomming vessle! It's Xel'Nagan. Their hailing!
A strange form appeared on the viewing screens. Princes Iralan smiled. The Xel'Naga are really secretive about their looks. They transport themselves in metal cillinders. So not many had seen them before in their true form. The being smiled back. In the back there were 4 beings surrounding a box with the logo of the Xel'Naga empire on it. Guarding it with devotion.
The being in front spoke. "Princes Iralan, people of the Myr'Sadat. We accept'. The being extended his hand. Lets talk aboard my vessle.
Weeks later on the planet Mortasha, a unique world that could best be described as 'paradise', for whatever being, people gathered. Xel'Nagans and Myr'Sadat flooded the great squares and streets together. Merchants from both empires opened food stands and cultural festivities. Both races fully enjoyed each others products and befriended.
During mid day, at the moment when the 3 suns of the system alligned everyone fell silent and viewed the spectacle. On most of the great squares, which were built just for this purpose by huge amounts of craftsmen, holographic 3d projectors projected a scene.
A grand hallway showed the royal heirs of both our races walk down a path, towards two huge emereld thrones. As the two came closer the thrones glowed more brightly. A choir and instruments from both races supported this scene. Music unheard in the galaxy spread through the hearts of all those there.
The ceremony took over an hour. But in the end. They were married.
Coordinator Myrath and Emperor Chen exchanged 2 suitcases, which they handed to some people who left the rooms with an eager glow in their eyes.
An alliance was born. Blood lines joint. Ancient thrones re-used. The future... has begun.

Stardate 2403.4 --- Computer Glitches
Engineer Corollal sighed in frustration. How was he ever going to get all these systems back up by noon? He should have never signed up for this job. Sure! Exciting new technology and challenges! Work at the very frontier of knowledege they said! But for now... he hadn't seen daylight in weeks. The trade managers back home were freaking out at his manager... and Corollal's manager vented back at him. Thankfully the Xel'Naga engineers were under similar pressure. Joint hardship creates good friendships. And Corollal for sure made some good friends! They were already planning to setup a little engineers bureau of their own, as a group. 'Joint Technologies Intergalactic'. That's how they'd name it. They'd be rich! But first; they were sweating underneath the new Joint Central Command HQ. Thankfully, due to earlier trade, there was SOME compatiblity in the computer systems, but there was still so much to be done. We work with blue tech crystals from our homeworlds. But they work a lot with fluids. It all works neatly together. But it'll be years until common standards are found.
At home, quite some tradesmen jumped from our high towers when they realised that all the existing tradelines were severed in favor of new allied lines. And without the computer systems working properly, to set up new tradelines, things got messy.
The only joint message that went out was 'Hello! This is the new automated com system. Do you read?'. And that's it. All the circuits blew up after that.
But it'll be ok. Soon will be up and running. And corollal; he will go get his billions.
Back at homeworld, in the old command center, admiral Foryn had locked himself away. The new strategic situation required a lot of pondering. How will this all play out?
There was a big red flag on top of a world in the Cinni system. Home to the rebels. We bombarded them with capital missiles, yes... but there were a lot more of 'm down there then we thought. Drastic measures had to be taken. And they had to be taken swiftly. Only the gods know what those rebels are up to down there. Little CoreDrills with massive explosive potential are being constructed nearby. And soon. The rebels will be dealt with.
And then. A greater threat awaits. An agressor. A Terrorist using covert ops to disrupt our way of life! It slithers in the night...
To be continued!

Note: This new alliance has truely disrupted and severed communication links; As this is my first ingame alliance I'm figuring out the controls. Last turn we couldn't send messages. Currently we can vote on them (as of this turn). Treaty stuff is still giving some trouble. So if you get no responsed on that, that's because we're working on coms.
Perhaps if you send one it can work?

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2403.5 --- Massacre
Good evening ladies and gentlemen. We interrupt tonights episode of 'A snakes anatomy' for an emergency news bullentin. We go live to Director Myrath. He his holding a press conference right now with Fleet admiral Foryn.
'Good evening'. Today is a dark day in our history. Something has occured that never happened before. Beings from an alien race committed genocide against us. No.. no... silence; I will take questions later. I'll tell you what we know.
At the start of this week a Spawn Class colonizer landed on a new, fruitatious world which showed great promiss. As is procedure the ship landed and tranformed itself into a basic outpost. Once this was done the 25 million colonists onboard were taken out of stasis. The cargo containers were also defrosted. Shortly after disembarking some of our colonists fell ill. It wasn't until all the colonists showed the similar behaviour. We received a destress call 2 days ago and sent a fighter batallion to investigate. Our pilots quickly found out that the entire population of 'Gorea', as the colonist dubbed their world, was dead. Their bodies were scattered all over landing site and appeared to just have fallen down where they stood.
Our pilots investigated in protective suits and found that the entire population was affected by an infectious decease. Closer inspection revealed that inside the colony ship a canister was released into the stasis-air supply. The canister had clear Nilith markings. There can be no mistake, as a dead Nilith was found nearby. Chocked in it's own poison.
A plague was delivered. Biological weapons were used against innocent civilians. A clear case of genocide.
I'm discussing the current situation here with fleet admiral Foryn here. I'll take some questions now...
A you. The reporter in the corner.
Good day Director. Agena Agentall from the Daily Sadat. How are we going to respond?
The screen flashed back to the studio. We will be back with a summery of the question later on. Now for other news.
The new allied systems were not working to specification. Due to large pressure from the ministry of commerce the joint communication systems were dissolved and our own were reinstated. Expect trade to resume with the other races shortly.
In other news. Princes Iralan is having a great time at the Xel'Naga. She has been spotted radiant an happy. She will be here for an exlusive interview next week.
Now, back to 'A snakes anatomy'. We'll keep you updated.

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2403.5 --- Justice
The small escort squadron of ancient RoadKill class frigates took formation around the Plane of Yondolla (PoY).
Aboard the bridge of the PoY captain Guthra looked at his crew. They all looked determined. Especially young leuitenant Cvarki. The leuitenant had lost quite a bit of family on the plague assault of a few months back. He looked eager to exact justice on those who did wrong.
(Our supreme courts had ruled that 2.400 Million snakes be executed over the brutal masacre of our world. 24 million innocent souls were lost on our side.)
Captain Guthra ordered all the Yondolla's to launch. The fighter pilots had all been aboard for nearly 2 years now. They were still confident because of their swift victory at the wormhole leading into this system. Guthra hoped that their overconfidence wouldn't be the death of 'm. The snakes must have seen us comming; We've been in this system for over a month now. He worried.
Central command wants results though. It's a too important oppurtunity to let go; We need to know what these snails are made off. To see if their bite is as poisonouss as their bark.
Launch all squadrons! Tell the roadkills to ready their missiles.
Massive weaponports opened up at the roadkills nearly instantly. Several wings of Yondolla's quickly launched from all available fighterbays.
Let's see what these old buckets of rust can do!
Sir! The aliens are launching fighterwings.
Scan them! Report!
Scanning now sir. Just a sec. 3d projectors in the middle of the bridge popped on and displayed the enemy fighters. The computers quickly took these Nilith designs appart and displayed it's properties. Engines, Navigation, Sensors, Weapons... Afterburners. Dang those things are fast! We've got the numbers though.
Engage them! Lets see what their pilots are made off!
A quick battle ensued. The alien fighters were fast; but they were quite overwhelemed by our numbers and by the short range defense systems installed on the PoY and Roadkills.
Sir. Scanners state that there are approximatly 194 million Nilith on the planet. There appear to be some weapon platforms down there.
Guthra nodded at leuitenant Cvarki. The leuitenants' expression hardened. Plane of Yondolla, take command position. All fighterwings and Roadkills, engage the alien world. Fire at will. Fire at everything that slithers! EVERYTHING! Cvarki looked at the command display aboard the PoY and saw all ships take position.
A grand orbital ombardment started. Glassing of this world had begun. Sir! Incomming missiles! Their shooting back! Holy crap that thing hurts! A Roadkill has been disabled. These things pack a punch!
Keep firing, Guthra said. Target their weapon platforms first. Then, take out the rest.
Yes sir!
And so it was; The Nilith world was glassed. 200 million of the 2400 nilith had been done away with. There still would be a lot of work to do. But a start was made.
Important lessons were learned though; The Nilith have powerful missiles at their disposal. They also have fast fighterwings. We should head back. Get some RoadMasters, Toothfairies and Skulls. Something tells me their going to be upset about this. Something tells me their not going to keep it with a hiss...
Turn about! Guthra said. Head to a spacedock. Time we have some upgrades installed on these buckets.
Well done all! Well done!

Stardate 2403.5.5 --- A programmers victory
Gerald looked rather pleased with himself as he looked over the latest combat reports pitting our old drones versus the state of the art Nilith fighter craft. He sat comfertably at his workstation at home office. Gerald was in charge of a small set of drones and had just finished his morning coffee. See, he thought to him self, this is they way war should be waged. He took a bite from is Dunot. A delicacy. He adjusted his chair so it was just a tad more comfertable and allowed him to stretch.
See sir? All it needed was a few tweaks in their programming. They didn't know what to do... they were just flying circles. If we had tested 'm better we would have known. But now their alright.
Excelent Corporal! Admiral Foryn smiled. Things are looking up. Those Nilith must have thought that they'd be able to trash our drones that easily for a long time.
Send some of those CoreDrills; See what they do.
Yes admiral; I'll begin launchprep right away...

Re: Nebula Rising
Go Myrath! I'm rooting for you after reading your Myrath Vs Javaslinger game.
I was wondering - regarding the alliance with the Xel'Naga - is 'unnamed' still in the game then?
Looking forward to reading more action reports, from all of the players! Very interesting stuff...
Also, which version and mod are you guys using?

Re: Nebula Rising
Yes; Unnamed is still in. He is the Xel'Naga ruler.
Currently we are running on 1.35 with balancemod 1.08; But I think/hope we will upgrade to 1.44 with balancemod 1.09, once that is out.
Thanks for the support
It's going to be quite a fight I imagine. All parties seem to have a lot of worlds (I think), so big fleets should be very well possible

all I have to say is keep playing and keep writing. I read some of this in the morning and then I had to leave, but the entire time I was looking forward to reading the rest. This is very entertaining.

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2403.8 --- Cloak & Dagger
No, no no. These numbers can't be right. The ministry of defense must have made a mistake. Grand Cloak Orvill, head of the secret service shaked his head. If these numbers are right those snakes are slithering everywhere. It sais here there are over 30.000 spies running around our worlds at any given time. Nope, admiral Foryn said. I'm afraid not. We are capturing those snakes left and right... they truely are all about.
We're captureing a great deal of 'm. It won't be long until we have all our critical installations secured.. but.. They are slippery.
You know, Orvill said, we suspect it isn't just the snakes you know. We don't have any proof yet, but we find it hard to beleive that the snakes alone would be able to do this to us. And their tricks are getting more refined every day too.
Admiral Foryn sighed.. Tell me about it. Last month, 2 more explosions devalued some of our worlds. This nonsence has to stop. We still have 6 months to leave the galaxy, according to their time table. I guess they think we won't.
Oh... have you seen these babies yet? Foryn shoved over a pad to Orvill. Yeah. Exciting new developments. But I'm not fully happy with them yet. The simulations weren't fully satesfactory. I think the director is rushing them into production because he's worried though.
Worried?, Foryn replied. That old scheming bastard is hardly ever worried. I'm sure he's got a plan.
I guess your right. Grand Cloak Orvill smiled with a smile that suggested he knew a lot more than he was saying. Afterall.... he was the head of the intelligence agency.
Oh; Foryn said. Have you seen this report? Yeah Orvill said. A request for help. I saw the fleet communications that you dedicated 25 ships to the task? Yes. And a flottilla of drones. Useful little buggers. It could be an interesting little development. We'll have to see where it all goes.
I hear we also established frontier worlds even closer to Nilith space. Is that smart? The admiral smiled. Ofcourse it's smart! It gives us an excelent foothold and allows us to keep a close eye on what those slithering bastards are up to. I'm not sure yet how they reacted on our little bombardment of their world though. They haven't peeped. Only restated their ultimatum. Anyways. Those worlds out there will be quite secure before they can properly react. The Mark VI planetairy platforms are comming online as we speak. And they can hold back quite a strikeforce. At least... that's what the simulations tell us. You never know what those snakes think of though.
Have faith, Foryn. Afterall. They're only snakes. They slither effectively through our powerplants; but they haven't shown any remarkable bite yet. All bark, and no bite. That's what I think.
But what about those fighter they had? They were quite advanced. They packed a punch and were dang fast.
True, Foryn responded. But don't rule out our fighters. The Eyerthnulls have been retired and replaced. The yondolla's received an upgrade. I asure you, there's no need to be afraid of those little buggers. Besides; A few more Planes of Yondolla will be arriving shortly. I know their packed with Arcaic design fighters, but they still pack a punch. Especially the rocket pods aboard. You've seen what they've done with their last world.
True; Orvil smiled. Ah well. We'll just have to see how it all turns out, don't we? Our pieces are moving into position. We'll have to see if they can drive us out of this galaxy.
Oh yeah. One last thing; Director Myrath wants you to sign this; It's a final warning to those snakes. If they blow up one more of their worlds we're gonna make snail soup out of the whole lot of them.
The Grand Cloak grinned. He grabbed a pen and added his signature to those of the admiral, director and that of the emperor.
There. I doubt they'll back down though.
That's ok, Foryn replied. We don't expect them to. But we have to show good manners before eradicating the whole lot of 'm. What would the neighbours think if we didn't?

Stardate 2403.9 --- Sighting!

There sir! 8 of them! They just popped up! It isn't clear, they're hiding right near the event horizon of the wormhole. But it's deffinitly 8! The sensors are sure.
Now now private, the commander Arnald said, Easy now. They're snails. What harm can they do? Quickly. Fetch me the intel report on their ships, so we know what we're up against.
Private Earling stared back at the commander. Ehm sir... That's it really. The picture you see here, with 8 ships... that's it. That's really all we know. We think that's a bridge though and that....
Out! Shouted commander Arnald, letting go of his taked ease. Sweat drops appeared on his face.
Damn. Their early. We've only got a few Kords. High Tech, yes. But... Will they hold?
Arnald looked worried. Best get HQ on the phone. This could get bloody...

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2403.9 ---- Intelligence Report
Greetings Unnamed,
It seems your recent 'cleaning shop' at Intel Command is starting to pay results. I am happy to report we have managed to avoid any further intel defense failures on our end for a couple months now. In addition, our recent emphasis on targetting hostile empires in force has paid dividends with some damage to enemy planets including at least one plague confirmation on a Nilith world.
On a darker note, the Myr'Sadat are reporting much less success in defending against intel attacks. We believe part of this is due to the Nilith and perhaps other empires shifting their emphasis to them and easing up on us. This would also account for, at least in part, for our recent success in defense.
We believe our recent success may draw off some of the Nilith's intel resources from the Myr'Sadat, and give them a break. I have also outlined my plans for the near future to 'keep things interesting'. They are attached, and for your eyes only.
Thats all for now.
Nicademis
Chancellor of Intel
Re: Nebula Rising
What great fun you are having.
I hope my multi player game ends up being as much fun.
Keep up the posts and how do you get the graphics in?

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2404.0 --- Old but lethal
Quickly Xi'Nktel! In here! The Xel'Nagan quickly followed Seargent Trovop, a Myr'Sadat veteran, into the bunker. Grab the weapons. They will be here soon! The plane of Yondolla has already launched it's Yondolla's to intercept the alien frigates. It'll be our turn soon.
Xi'Nktel was a Xel'Naga exchange trooper. Many Xel'Nagan's and Myr'Sadat had exchanged places on multiple worlds to learn to better understand each other. What better place to bond then to fight side by side? At least... that's what Xi'Nktel thought when he signed up for this job. If only those Myr'Sadat would have built more of those Kords. Magnificent installations yes. But painstakingly slow to build.
Xi'Nktel touched the control screen of the Myr'Sadat weapon platform. Immediatly all the colors and glyps changed from Sadat to Xel'Nagan. The strange clumsy buttons changed into more familiar shapes and the machine was ready.
Trovop took seat at the other side of the installation. He took control of the other half of the weapons array. The Xel'Naga had not yet deployed the weapons at Trovops hands, and so he thought it best to control those himself.
Sounds came from the speaker in the corner of the bunker. 'The Wee'Jas and Roadkills have engaged the aliens. The yondolla are supporting. The alien ships are firing shells and missiles. Our ships are responding, but are outnumberd. Aargh. They're being ripped apart!. The yondolla are doing ok; but the Nilith ships are fighting back with bigger guns and armor. Dang. There they go. The plane of Yondolla is disengaging to a safe location; all fighters have been launched! The aliens are advancing. Battle stations!

The aliens warships approached and started to take position for orbital bombardment. Xi'Nktel and Trovop stared at their screens. A platoon of of Xel'Nagan and Myr'Sadat soldiers guarded the entry to the bunker. Now! Trovop shouted!. Buldering cannons fired from the surface; Green lasers, advanced weaponry and point defense cannons fired in usison;
I got one! Quickly! Finish him off! Trovop looked thrilled; Adrenaline running through his body. Xe'Nktel pointed the beam weapon at the alien frigate and fired. There! That should keep it calm. Lets target SHABRAAAM
A targetted bombardment dropped on the bunker and obliterated the complex. Xe'Nktel and Trovop looked at each other. For a moment there was no difference between them. They nodded at each other in understanding and rammed every launch button on the board. SHRKRAAAK. The bunker collapsed.
It started raining on Kinkara. Raining gunfire. Missiles. Although ancient, these weapons did quite well what they were designed for. Kill. Destroy. It needs not be described here; But let me just say that 250million Xel'Naga and 250 million Myr'Sadat found their deaths in flames.
Flames.. mirrored in the hearts and eyes of every Myr'Sadat in excistence.

Re: Nebula Rising

Stardate 2404.1 --- Steady as she goes
Ibid, the minister of internal affairs stood in front of the management council. How is this possible Ibid? Explain yourself? Have you had sand in your eyes? It isn't just ONE world you missed. You mist dozens! You were ordered to colonize all worlds in known space. And yet.. there are gaps! Here, here and here. And even here! I can practicly see that dang world from the window! Directory Myrath was upset and looked asthough he was about to rip the minister to pieces. But calmed himself and sat down. Ibid looked pale. He thought he was here to get commended for all the good jobs he did. He didn't think he'd get a reprimand. He looked around for support, but the council members all looked forbidding. And another thing, the director said. We are STILL getting reports about sabotage. I know not all intel centers are online yet, but we should have outmatched those snakes by now. Take an example of the Xel'Naga! They've got their things in order. 'yes sir... sorry sir... right away sir..' The minister looked shaken. Now get out!, roared the director. Minister Ibid jumped off his seat and scutteled out of the room.
Director Myrath sat down and smiled at the other council members. Another minister on his left chuckled. That should get him to work. He's a good man you know. Works hard. But he just needs to be chased for a bit once in a while. You'll see. He'll have his things in order before years end. "I know", the director said. But with these Nilith crawling around every corner, we need every bit of space we can get our claws on.
The sounds of civil cervants running down the hallways were clear. Someone had gone on a stampede and put them to work.
Heh; the director grinned, Good old Ibid isn't wasting any time. I'm afraid were going to have to pay a lot of people overtime again.
A knock on the door made the council look up. Admiral Foryn stepped in.
Ahh; hello admiral. Tell us, what news have you got.
Admiral Foryn's look was calm. But everyone knew he had a lot on his mind. Those Nilith were really keeping him busy. The council knew that Foryn had been messing around in the workschedules of the people in Kintara, trying to get optimal results to stop the Nilith in time.
Foryn stepped forward and started speaking. 'G'day all. I'll try to keep it brief as I have to get back to the control center. The rebels near homeworld could not be encouraged to rejoin the empire. It seems those snakes really messed with their minds. We've decided to cleanse the world and repopulate it. A vessle is already on it's way.
Secondly; We've found Shiite ships near the front line. We haven't encountered those ships before and hope they are benign. We wouldn't want another war on our hands.
Thirdly; The Nilith forces in Kintara seem to have increased in strenght. They've received support of an additional 4 ships. Fortunatly we have 2 carriers and a number of ships orbiting our world there, and it should be quite secure. But you never know with those Nilith. What troubles us is that the new ships are of another design; All our agents could reveal is that they are known as 'Ben-Im and Bden-An' class ships. Toothfairies should arrive shortly.
Lastly; We've lost 10 toothfairies and numerous Hivelings to a minefield near Mithrak space. We're still trying to find out how this happened.
The council didn't speak. Some saw a little pale. More Nilth. A strikeforce of Toothfairies lost, Shiiite in our space AND rebels to quell.
'I think we're doing well though', the admiral said. All is under control.
The council looked at the admiral. You could see them thinking. 'are we really?...'
we hope so..

Great post Tak!
Maybe I'll try to get something in here as well once the Mithrak Imperium gets a little more out there in the game.
