Crystalline Weapons: Armor Piercing?

Image de Kingside_Bishop

Hi.

I'm playing a crystalline race in an upcoming game, and so was running some simulations to see where I want to go with it. Specifically, I was trying out the crystalline weapons (which are supposed to skip armor) in combination with shield depleters (which aren't supposed to damage armor). But, in the simulation, the enemy ships' armor was being damaged. There were no weapons equipped on any of my ships besides point defense, shield depleters, and shard cannons, so theoretically, that should not have been.

Can anyone tell me why? Is this a bug? Design feature? Something I'm missing? I'm running 1.33 (until tomorrow), with Balance Mod 1.06.

Thanks.

maybe the armor get´s damaged because the shard cannons hit the armor component on the hull.
they skip the armor of the enemy ship and then hit components on the outer hull first.
as armor is a component in the outer hull it may be damaged as other components.

it´s like when you hit a ship using shields with a polaron beam (wich skipps shields) and you hit the shield generator.

The Skip Armor damage type skips 90% through armor. Think of the damage as holes through the armor.
