Still a little buggy....

Hi,

I've taken a little bit of time off from SEV, after I had a mobo failure I hadn't installed SEV again waiting for a few patches. Now after installing 1.33, I've noticed alot of new changes that really helped the interfaces etc. I still see there are problems, unless someone can clarify for me.

1. It still seems that regardless of what you research for ship weapons, its pointless because you are better off placing DUC's or cruise missles on your ships because they somehow seem to work better (practically not statistacly)

2. The ai still is no challenge, I've never played a SE game before, but I somehow can't lose on the hardest difficulty (I haven't tried the new option about ai handicap settings)

3. The ai still doesn't put cruise missles on any ships (only DUC's) making the research of point defense pointless.

4. I don't know if this is a new bug, but in some battles I've had (space and ground) my units just refuse to fire on the enemy, despite having tons of supplies and ordinance and within range.

5. I don't recall this from before, but placing more than 1 type of weapon on a unit is pointless (i.e. cruise missle's + DUC's) because the ship only seems to want to fire one type of weapon, unless this has to do with the ship strategy.

I don't know if some of these problems are being dealt with or not, but I really want to try and enjoy this game, but sometimes I get so frustrated with the problems

1-3. Try kwoks mod it has alot of balance issues and AI improvements, also a new patch is coming out that also adds more to the AI.

5. My ships fire more than one type for me, but remember if they have best fir range and one weapon reaches further than the others then they'll only use one unless the enemy gets too close to them.

the patch is supppossed to come out this week, and Kwok release a new mod version also, I'd suggest waiting until then to play or putting up with current state of base plus kwok's mod. It is also helpful to give the AI a low bonus but if what I heard from some players about new patch that might not be needed...

Well that would be very nice if the new ai is "sounding" that much better because right now I might as well get a 5 year old to play chess against me.

I haven't tried kwok's mod yet, but I am pretty tempted.

What is the difference in how a ship decides to fire when you select a strategy, say for example maximum range, and place a max. range weapon and a medium range weapon (a cruise missle and DUC). I find that the ship somehow dislikes firing the DUC, but if I select a strategy like optimal firing range they don't seem to fire the cruise missle unless they are really close. I don't know if this is just something that I am percieving, but could it be a strategy setting?
