How do I keep my POP happy? |

I am having real problems stopping my planets form rioting, I get about 20 turns into the game and my settlements just start to riot and i can't find what tech I need to stop this happening, can anyone tell me what I need to do please.
The increase happiness trait
The increase happiness trait make your Pop unhappy, seems to be in reverse, try the one that makes your pop unhappy.
Happiness Trait
To test it I went into the text file and changed the happiness trait to 50 - the result was instant riots on my home world and any planet I colonized.
I set it at 10 and that may be to high.
I do not know if there is a cap on the happiness trait or if it is a bug, I'am going to try -50 just to see what happens.

Building expenses?
There seems to be an overhead -- if you take all the people off a world, it makes less than nothing.

Facilities
Did you have any facilties on the planet? They take maintence.
Happiness is BACKWARD in the Demo
As I posted else where, If you set the happiness trait to a minus value then the population gets happier.
Building expenses?
By the look of that image, you've got satellites on the planet. At least part of your maintenance costs will be from these units.

Build pacification centers.
Build pacification centers. 1 per system is enough.

Move them
Moving them to another world helps too...
Not Modding
As I posted else where, If you set the happiness trait to a minus value then the population gets happier.
Could be wrong but I get the impression he's asking about how to do it while playing the game - and not by modifying the game parameters.
The answer is the Urban Pacification Center, troops on the planet and ships in the system. All will make them happier.

Just a few questions: -How
Just a few questions:
-How many ships in the system? Do they have to be warships? Do they have to be over the rioting planet?
-Do fighters count as "troops" to make the trick? Can they be in orbit (launched)?
-I heard that 10 troops x planet do the job. Is this right?
thanks!!!
answers
Ships in system have to be armed, armed freighters like planetary assault transports seem to work and the more the merrier. Troops work as do armed satellites drones and planet based fighters orbital bases also work.
On the research side all the cultural advances seem to make the population happier as well as every thing else. There is also a facility which helps as well I think
The only thing which will put down a riot once it’s happened is a troop drop all the other things are preventative rather than curative
Almost

Almost - but not quite. The Urban Pacification Center will quell a riot even after it's started. Takes some time, though - it's not immediate.

lol, i have yet to see my pop unhappy.

Even better.... wait until
Even better.... wait until you have a contested system where you are trying to break one of their fortress worlds with a million mines and fighters in orbit, and they actually outtech you (Yay high AI with full advantages and all allied against you!). Then you find your population getting really grumpy really fast.

Ground forces
I find dropping off a large number of ground troops keep the people happy (even if said ground troops are just a cocpit and notta else)
