Satellite placement |
How do I place satellites and fortresses? The satellites that I lay around a warp point tend to appear in a circle well away from the warp point when it comes time for combat, and move every combat. I'd love to at least have them in a circle around the warp point, and being able to custom place them would be fantastic.
Re: Satellite placement
And you have to place them one-at-a-time, no band select. :/
Re: Satellite placement
As of 1.25, they did not stay where you put them...the following turn they were often re-positioned.
I don't know if this is the case for 1.33.
Re: Satellite placement
It gets worst if you have a few squads of Fighters. Each combat, the fighters start farther and farther away from the warp point. Try moving 7 - 8 dozen fighters back into position... (sigh)

Dont stand neutral between the fire and the fire brigade.

Re: Satellite placement
At least with fighters you can move them without using a satellite layer...
BTW it never happened to me that my sats moved... Sometimes they form a ring around a ship far away from the warp point though...
Re: Satellite placement
Why is it when combat starts most of my satellites' supplies and ordninance are completely randomized? For example, during the turn prior to combat, they were all fully fueled up and loaded with ordinance. Once combat starts, they are all set to single-digits, or zero... they cannot fire any of their CSM weapons!
normal 1.35
You can also test this in the battle simulator - fresh satellites will always start with depleted supplies and ordinance, even when you place them full.

Re: Satellite placement
I've noticed this too. I reported it to MM, but I'm not sure if he knows the full extent of the bug. If it still happens in the next patch I'll submit it to him again, with all the specifics.

Re: Satellite placement
You can. Use the Sector View button (or Shift + Enter), then if there are no enemy ships in the sector (don't know about the allies), you can place your ships and units how you want. It's hard to move satellites though, because they are so small, and there is no options like F9 in combat.
