A mines question.. |

Say someone blocks a wormhole with 120 mines... and I'd like to pass through said wormhole...
Would one minesweeper (small transport) suffice? Do I just attack the spot?
Or do I need a fleet of sweepers?
How can I tell how many mines one sweeper can remove in a turn?
Tnx!
Re: A mines question..
Have a look at the description of the minesweeper component, it tells you how many mines it can remove (it varies depending on level).
Re: A mines question..
Twon't be so easy after my friend, will it??? Mwuahahaha!!!

Re: A mines question..
BTW are the mines now cloaked in 1.33?
Re: A mines question..
in SE IV if thay couldent do it in one turn thay fell to the mines i assume its the same in SE V
Re: A mines question..
Yeah, any mines not immediately swept detonate. Sometimes that's survivable, usually not. (a hex can only hold 100 mines, BTW)
Re: A mines question..
what iv seen one with close to 500 in a un modded game thay where mine that where dropped after combat with a drone may be its a bug? i dont know and i dont care i dont use mines there a cowards weapon

Re: A mines question..
I've also managed to put more than 100 mines in a sector... don't remember how though... pobbably using the "remotely launch units" function.
Re: A mines question..
btw, if you send fighters into minefield, mines damage/destroy them. One mine can destroy multiple fighters (if mine have high enough damage/fighter low enough HP).
But to kill whole fighter group, et least ONE mine will be used, even if its massive overkill.
So if you eg. build small fighter with life support, cockpit and one engine and launch only one and send it into minefield, he can waste one mine.
Can be usefull when you does not have/available minesweepers.
Re: A mines question..
I was wondering if your own mines activate when you go through them?
Like if i placed mines at a warp point would I be able to go through myself with no problem?

Re: A mines question..
I did read in the weapon specs that small anti proton beams can target mines though; I'd have to experiment with that from one of my carriers

Fighters arent supposed to warp...

Re: A mines question..
I don't build defence bases, they're a cowards weapon...
yeah, I don't park my ships on warp points either for the same reason.
sats too, and fighters.
I don't bother with armor or shields too, cause what's the point of defence? same goes with PD.

Re: A mines question..
Hey can mines detonate on drones? Because I have an idea. Build a minesweeper, but add a drone launcher and a drone with just engines. Said drone will fly in be destroyed, but then you know how many mines there are!!!

Re: A mines question..
You would need a ship or ships with enough mine sweeping components to remove 120 mines. The higher your mine level the more mines they will remove. If you right click on a mine sweeping component it will inform you it’s sweeping ability.
