Just invaded a system, own two planets, but I can't resupply my vehicles... why? |
No matter what I do, the ships just don't get the resupply if I land on the planet or the 500 per turn for being in the same system, despite the system notes saying that I should be getting the supply and ordinance. There is another enemy in the system, does this factor in at all? Thanks.

Re: Just invaded a system, own two planets, but I can't resupply
Does that resupply depot have any supplies? If it's freshly built, chances are it hasn't had time to generate much (depends on which Mod you play). Fleets require vast amounts of supplies afterall.
Consider manually moving supplies around to prioritise which ships need it most and in the mean time build a ship full of Supply Storage - that'll generate some instant supplies to feed your fleet. Scrap that ship afterwards as it's not worth waiting for it to resupply - unless you really want to bring some supplies to the frontlines from your home systems.
Ideally, those 'resupply ships' should be built before you go invade. Logistics is more important than Tactics.

Re: Just invaded a system, own two planets, but I can't resupply
Am I the only one that has a hard time understanding the supply and ordnance rules in this game?
Re: Just invaded a system, own two planets, but I can't resupply
No your Not. I am this and other areas the game would be seen as less buggy if we actually knew how stuff was supposed to work. At least then we would be able to distinguish theory from practice and trace real bug’s and distin guish them from irritating or misunderstood features
It might help to see if that base supplies any thing the turn after its finished because I have noticed that you only seem to get the bonuses for building research centres and Intel centres and upgrading the same the turn after you build them. Never paid enough attention to resuply centres to know if the same applys or not to them.

Re: Just invaded a system, own two planets, but I can't resupply
Resupply Depots slowly produce them over time, and homeworlds start with full supply. However, you're trying to feed an entire fleet which is not going to happen with new Resupply Depots unless you build/bring in a bunch of ships from elsewhere and have them dump their supplies on the Resupply Depot.
Go to the cargo screen of those planets. Take a look at what your supply reserves are.

Re: Just invaded a system, own two planets, but I can't resupply
It just seems so much different to me than it was in SEIV. I was building Defense Base and couldn't understand why none of them were firing. Apparently I needed to include supply and/or ordnance as part of the design. It just seems like extra micromanagement that I can live without.
Re: Just invaded a system, own two planets, but I can't resupply
You'll get used to it. I think the issue is coming to grips with a slightly new system. It's actually and improved system and adds a very interesting element to the game.
I wish there were more options when it comes to interdicting supply lines. Like blockading warp points. As I understand it now, you can only blockade individual planets.
Anway Jeff, if you can manage offensive playbooks in the NFL and read those complex NFL defenses, you can surely do this.

Re: Just invaded a system, own two planets, but I can't resupply
Supplies is actually power, and if you right click on weapons, youl find that they take supplies (power). Some of the bigger ones require as much as 30-40 per shot. Remeber that supplies are stored in engines as well....So when you fire weapons you are also limiting your ships ability to operate farther from home. Hope that explains supply a little bit better...It doesnt seem like micromangement to me...Its a realistic fact. You got to have power to make the ship run. Its a usefull tool in limiting attack capabilities, meaning you really have to watch your ships...
Re: Just invaded a system, own two planets, but I can't resupply
We should be able to load Supplies and ordnance in cargo bays
Or be abele to build a supply and/or ordnance container that can be loaded in cargo bays
Re: Just invaded a system, own two planets, but I can't resupply
If you're having trouble understanding the reasoning behind supplies and ordnance, then try naming them what they really are.
Fuel, food, spare parts, etc. for your "Supply" group.
Ammunition, missle refills, etc, for your "Ordnance" group.
It seems even more silly and senseless to leave your empire without, claiming infinity on all expendables. That's fine if you have an UberReactor and like reprocessed organic materials you already ate and got rid of.
And it is true, Logistics is ultimately more important than Tactics. You can't fight if you don't have the equipment and supplies. All the tactics in existence mean nothing without the ability to use them.

Re: Just invaded a system, own two planets, but I can't resupply
If you have a relativly undamaged (not Red damage%) resuply base then it will resuply your ships up to its limit. Planets should automaticaly resuply landed troops at the end of the turn unless there are enamy defenders on the planet in which case its technicaly still theirs and they get resuplyed not yours
