A new suggestion regarding retreat |

I've been trying to figure out a decent way to both permit retreat but prevent never-ending chases with matched speed vessels. I may have a decent way to do it finally.
Currently, vessels are given maxed movement points when their owner's turn ends so that they can retreat on other players' turns. I propose that they receive half of their movement points instead (rounded down). When the owner's turn comes up again all of the vessels will receive the other half of their movement points.
The main difference this will cause is when ships have to chase the same ship several times in one turn to kill it.

Or just change it so ships get their movement points at the start of a player's turn, thus ships with no movement remaining wouldn't be able to retreat if attacked by other players. It'd kinda suck for our poor little scouts getting jumped by a squadron of destroyers, but it'd eliminate a lot of AI combats, thus speeding up turn processing even more.
Suction feet are not to be trifled with!
