Ship Movement At the Beginning of the Turn |
Hey, I was just wondering if there was any way to turn off the ship movement animation at the beginning of each turn because it can take quite a while to watch them all move.
Also, I wanted to ask about how shipsets work. I want to add them into my IRM game, so do I just drop them into the shipsets folder and thats it, nothing else to do?

Yes, thats it.

Or you give ships only so much orders, that they at no more movement to do at the start of the next turn.
(Sorry couldn't resist)

Re: Ship Movement At the Beginning of the Turn
If you go into Options from the main menu and then change System Icon Movement Speed to Very High, that should sort out your problem for the most part. The only thing is, it doesn't speed up the warping animation, so if you have a lot of ships warping in one turn it can slow things right back down again.
As for shipsets, you don't actually need to copy the entire shipset into the mods shipset folder. Just create an empty folder with the same name as the shipset in the main Empires folder in the mod's Empires folder and it'll work fine, saving you a fair chunk of harddrive space in the bargain.
Edit: One thing to note though, is that you'll want to make a copy of the AI_Main.txt file (ie: Cylon_AI_Main.txt) and put it in your empty directory, with a couple modifications. You'll want to edit the text file and make the entries "AI Script File" & "AI Script Empire Setup File" point to directories for stock shipsets (ie: Norak\Norak_Main_Script.csf), so that AIs using the shipset use the modded scripts and setups, rather than the stock one. This is especially important in mods that add new components, or have ways of doing things that are significantly different to stock.
Suction feet are not to be trifled with!

you cant turn them off but you can if you adjust the settings speed them up considerably
