Minimum practical range in ground combat |

In the interests of sharing discoveries:- it would appear that the minimum practical range of any ground weapon is 20. Shorter than this and the units can't get close enough to each other to fire. Unlike in space combat, units can't move over each other (well, maybe fighters can, I haven't tried them).
