Things that slow down the game

Hi, I observed that playing with all (only) computer generated opponents greatly increases the speed of the turns. Adding a human designed empire for ai slows down considerably. Has anyone else noticed similar behavior. Also any other suggestions to speed up ai turns ?

Also what can be done for ai to effectively bypass mines. In single player games it seems like all needed for victory is to plant mines at wormholes. Ai tries them a few times then stops testing them. Then all needed is a cloaked minelayer that isolates each quatrant one by one. Not much fun after some point. Any suggestions other than not to use it.... Thanks

Give the AI a minesweeper at each point where there are mines of yours?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. You're saying that using one of the Quick Start races will give faster turn processing than if you create/pick a new race? Can you be more specific as to how you figured this out, and which part of the turn processing is actually faster; the ship movement phase or the combat phase? This really doesn't make any sense, so a more detailed description of what you're experiencing would be nice.

when SEV creates an AI race it uses the AI files. When we create a race we pick from 3 stock personalities (agressive, neutral, passive). Maybe there is something to these 3 personalitites that gives races a slower turn.

SEV, more than a feeling.
