well, i'm pretty new to the Space Empire Saga. but since i have downloaded it, i cannot keep it out of my head, i have read some of your post / modifications. but after i download some mods, where do i extract them to (what folder) to make it enabled? sorry, i'm a noob, forgive me

Re: i'm pretty new
IRM is looking very promising, but is non-standard and currently having bugs ironed out. I'd suggest starting with BM for now so you get a feel for what a balanced game is like, then move onto IRM which introduces some changes to basic concepts.

Playing Touhou games (Go here if interested . No, nobody else is that good/insane as that replay). No rush for SE V bug fixing.
Re: i'm pretty new
I think you can patch illegal copies of games. For SEV, just download the patch here like normal and it'll patch normally.
Anyway, you risk getting flamed/banned by openly admitting you have a pirated copy (I know Bittorrent mind you). I just hope you're telling the truth that you had a legit copy and lost it. No offense though... it's just that it's generally bad forum etiquette to talk about illegal software.

...which is almost as bad etiquette as posting in 7-month old threads.

Re: i'm pretty new
There is some good information here:
http://wiki.spaceempires.net/index.php/Mods_%28SEV%29
If you downloaded the game from Steam it will likely be under a different directory. I'm not at my home computer, but I think it looks something like program files/valve/steam/steam apps/common/seV/game types (this is where the mod folder goes).
Most of the modders also include a comprehensive readme file with their mods that should give you a complete installation guide, as well as a list of all the changes their mod makes to the game.
Personally I reccommend Captain Kwok's balance mod. Inter-related mod (IRM) also seems very good, though I confess I havent played around with it extensively.
