Any hope of a change in the Fog of War for colonies?

Soumis par raynor le Sam, 2007-02-03 17:27 Space Empires V General

Currently, when you exit the sight range of a planet, the map view stops showing the flag indicating an enemy colony above the planet. Instead, it only shows the planet and whether or not it is colonizable. This leaves it up to the player to get out pen and paper and scribble down notes on every planet you come upon.

I know folks have suggested this be changed. I'm just curious if any of you have gotten any indications from Aaron that he might change this down the road sometime?

Thanks for any info.

If you want to get rid of the fog of war all together, there is a way to turn it off. I have been playing the game like that, it is much easier (you dont have to use sensors) but then again it also takes away some of the excitement to the game. Have you tried spy satelites? Just put some sensors to leave next to or on a planet.

Just as an FYI, but memory sight is being added in the next patch ~v1.50ish

Actually I have a question about that. In the recent patch the strategic map has had colors added to it to show system ownership. The problem with it right now is that it only shows system color for systems that you can actually see. For the most part, you can only see a system when you have a presence in it, but this feature will default to your own color if you are there regardless of who else is in the system. This makes the color feature virtually useless as it currently stands. Now my question: When the memory is added will the system ownership color be reflected in the strategic map? This is actually what we need, it seems to me.

What we need is the Se4 map system. Like for se4-style racial traits, I don't understand why this was not in the game right from the start.

Sorry to let you guys down on this, but Malfador posted on the beta forums that he found out that adding "memory sight" is much harder than he initially thought, and so he won't be doing it after all Sad :( Sad

That is very disappointing.
