Thoughts on 1.25? Specifically... |
Anyone notice if there has been an improvement in the turn processing speed once the game gets going? How bout the memory leak issues?
So far it seems a bit faster but I'm only 20 or so turns in...
There do seem to be some little improvements in the speed of the interface, but I can't quite put my finger on just what they are...
Thanks,
Javaslinger

apart from that it apparently requires you to uninstall the game and reinstall it as it wont patch v1.2O nothing as yet

Re: Thoughts on 1.25? Specifically...
Oddly enough . . . I did not encounter any problem upgrading from stock 1.20 to 1.25. I even had my own little mod working as well and was able to pick up on an existing game created 1.20. After I saved the turn, it saved it as 1.25, of course.
Looks nice! Good job!

Personally I haven’t had this problem but I am mid game and haven’t patched yet. It’s just that this problem was reported on the forum not so long ago and both the people who reported the problem said that they had to patch over 1.00 to get 1.25 to work. I thought this was odd at the time as every other patch had gone directly over what had gone before no problem.
EDIT have now installed 1.25 went directly over 1.20 fine except
Can only start standard SEV quick start games. The game won’t resume any previous games saves locks up when I try to load one it also locks up when I try to start a standard game. It also generates an error message for all the mods I have on BM 1.02 and IRM 7a and 7b. The patch also reset all the settings to default.
Good job that I have two copies of the game and only patched one of them but
at the moment

I haven't had any problems with 1.25 I installed it fine it even let me continue my current game(with my own personal mod) with only some small changes in a couple of files
so far no complaints
Re: Thoughts on 1.25? Specifically...
Have striped the game off and reinstalled it patched to 1.20 and am awaiting release of BM 1.03 and IRM 0.7c before continuing. In the Mean time I am working... Shock Horror... and contemplating a good dose of Dr Norton’s treatment for the work room PC which is the one which was playing up as I haven’t done that for some time.

Re: Thoughts on 1.25? Specifically...
the 1.25 patch corrected a lot of things but as far as i'm concerned also created others like when the AI woudl create another ship design upgrade that is exactly the same as the previous one, same stats, except for the name and also the retrofit problem when a ship would be 1 hex before the planet and a window would say that retrofit isn't possible cause i had no space yards , but teh ship would then make another movement ,being this this time on the planet and the window would say that the retrofit was done (with no space yards) , hope there will be fixes for these 2 weird things

Re: Thoughts on 1.25? Specifically...
I think it is an outstanding patch that has addressed a lot of bug issues and added improvements to the game. I look forward to more patches of this caliber.

Re: Thoughts on 1.25? Specifically...
Well, for some reason I can't get the patch to install onto even a fresh install of SE5. When I try and run it, it comes back with 'The source file is corrupted.' on the first file, which is se5.exe. I tried downloading it through the link on the frontpage of http://www.spaceempires5.com. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Thoughts on 1.25? Specifically...
My games seem to be processing between turns a lot faster... like before I'd go get coffee, now it's maybe 30 to 60 seconds before the next turn (and that's with 6 other races).
SEV, more than a feeling.
