"Troops" (plural) in happiness.txt |
Enemy Troops on Planet and Our Troops on Planet. What constitutes a "Troops"? It can't be a direct correlation to an entry in designtypes or vehicleunittypes because, well, there isn't a "Troops" in either one. I guess what I'm getting at is: Is it possible to have, say, Satellites or Fighters have an effect on a planet's happiness if they are in its cargo space?
I note that there are similar lines in mainstrings.txt, but I have no idea what these are supposed to do.

Re: "Troops" (plural) in happiness.txt
It's the anger change in tenths per troop when they are present on a planet. Enemy troops will increase population anger, while your own troops will reduce anger (ie increase happiness). For example, 20 of our own troops will increase happiness by 4% each turn.

Makes sense Captain always nice to know from some one who has looked at the code and knows what it means rather than lokked at the code like us mere mortals

Re: "Troops" (plural) in happiness.txt
The entire file is exactly the same as it was in SE:IV, so no new knowledge was needed to decipher it's meaning.
A major difference though is that you could pick your happiness type in SE:IV, but you can't in SE:V...

So which happiness type is used?

Re: "Troops" (plural) in happiness.txt
I'm not sure which one is used, probably just the first one...

Re: "Troops" (plural) in happiness.txt
I presume that troops refer to multiple troop units. That its plural in one place and singular in others doesn’t seem to effect the way it works. The other things which defiantly have an effect on planetary happiness are armed ships in orbit armed ships in system. I also suspect that other defensive units also have a positive effect but I can’t be certain of this but it would make sense as do deployed minefields.
I am not sure that all the factors which effect happiness are present in the happiness text file
