What am I doing wrong? |
Hi.
I just started playing Space Empires 5(played SE 4 for a while) and in the game, one of my planets has stopped construction. I got a message that it's for lack of resources...but I can't figure out why that would be. I've got a positive income for all 3 resource types still, and I'm wasting most of them as it is. Anyone have any ideas on what's going on?
Thanks,
Deverash
Yes, Badger has that probem
Yes, Badger has that probem too, he's always complaining about the population vanishing. Here's my thoughts on possible causes, not sure what it is though
1) In new star systems, they don't have Starports, so Organics income can't get to them. This might cause them to "starve" and vanish in large amounts, depopulating your planet
2) Your planetary conditions might be too bad to support your population. Check the birth rate of all new colonies and see if it's higher then migration, though Migration on the list might be people coming in and not out.
3) You might not have loaded any colonists into the intitial colony ship. Before you colonize a world with a colony ship, check it's cargo and make sure it has people in it.
That's all I've figured out. Since monitering 2 and 3, as well as building a starport first thing, I've never seen this. I've only seen it once before that and it could have been any of the 3 issues since I wasn't paying attention.
i just take the rascial pick
i just take the rascial pick that gives you free starports, that why you never have this problem.
You can get this problem
You can get this problem with the racial pick not needing star ports also. Causes I've seen for it are 2 & 3. Deadly planets are bad for your population.

Income after expenses, it seems
Right now it seems as though your storage of resources gets spent first, and then your income adds to your storage. That means you need as much resource storage as expenditures, and your income just refills those stores. I'd count this as a bug.
Check the empire window, under the expenses section. If the total expenses is higher than your max storage, this is what's causing the problem.

keep in mind I only had that problem in the Balance mod we are trying out - which does function differently than stock-
certainly not a bad thing but in some ways it IS a different game- in fact that is why we were playing it.
i am still suspecting my colonists were simply migrating back home! Let the homeworld fill back up and we'll see.
for the timwee being, is this fellow playing stock?
Anyone who wants power; by definition, cannot be trusted with it...
Re: What am I doing wrong?
It can happen when population riot.

*sigh* I guess it helps you
*sigh* I guess it helps you have a population to build anything with. I guess they all just migrated away or something.
