Change, Remove Facility on Planet |
How does one change a facility on a planet? E.g. delete a research facility to make room for a central computer, or remove a superfluous space port since one is already in the system?
I've looked at every control I can think of....
I know this is pretty basic. Thanks in advance!!
Scrapping Population
Scrapping population via spacing can be a good thing to do. If you've got alien migration they could end up messing up your atmosphere conversions. To ensure proper atmosphere conversion I space the migrating aliens if they breath a different atmosphere.

Re: Change, Remove Facility on Planet
Is there a way to instruct the alien migration to go to planets that have their type of atmosphere(domed or not)? I've notice AI empires that mix populations on domed planets and can't utilize then to their fullest. This holds back the AI progress and makes them even easier to defeat. Any thoughts out there on this? Thanks in advance.
Re: Change, Remove Facility on Planet
They will only migrate to their own atmosphere so the others you are seing are those that were there beforehand

Re: Scrapping Population
Migration mechanics can be a bit confusing at first. But have you ever considered spacing your own atmosphere breathers and keeping the migrants? They would be breathing the same atmosphere type as the planet, thereby saving you years of waiting for some atmospheric conversion.

Re: Change, Remove Facility on Planet
The migration function needs some controls added. It also needs to be changed that the the initial colonizing population can and WILL migrate away once the correct breathers are there.

Re: Change, Remove Facility on Planet
I personally like the way the Colony Minister - Population works in BM. If on, it automatically spaces the native population when the correct atmo breathers migrate to that planet thereby giving you an undomed planet the turn after they get there automatically. No fuss no bother ..unless you count the millions of your own population ejected into space.
Re: Change, Remove Facility on Planet
Yet another reason I DON'T load pop into colony ships. migration will fix issues with low pop, and save you the trouble of spacing extra pop.
Re: Change, Remove Facility on Planet
marhawkman, have you noticed that when you establish a colony using a colonizer without population onboard and one of your opponent's colonizers with population arrives the same turn but a little later than yours it will be able to establish a colony as well, and in result this colony will be not yours?

Re: Change, Remove Facility on Planet
Nope. never seen that happen. But you'll always have at least 1m from the crew of your ship.
Re: Change, Remove Facility on Planet
I have seen this behaviour in a PBW game. Apparently this 1M appears at the end of a processing phase.

Re: Change, Remove Facility on Planet
Ah. Maybe it's a bug that only pops up in simultaneous mode.

Ha)
how about that situation: Colony ship was build on another ship with Space Yard onboard. That means the only pop in there is the ship crew... but... The new ship have full crew too. And it easily establish colony with 1M population
Miracle!
Re: Change, Remove Facility on Planet
It is an abstraction.

Re: Change, Remove Facility on Planet
Nice abstraction)
I imagine how they reproduce in the name of Great Empire)))) To fill up all the ships crews))

I thought an unintuitive UI was a feature of the game.
