Space Empires V General
I'm all new to this so please bear with me. I bought the stream version of SE5. When I start the game the screen goes black... and stays black. When I minimize that black screen by alt-tab or pressing windows start button I see the actual game screen menu for a fraction of a second before the screen loads my usual windows desktop screen. The game is running but nothing appears on the screen, it's just black. I was expecting some bugs out of this game, but not at the beginning of my gaming experience with SE5. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

General
Make sure you are not running any thing else at the same time.
Spring clean your hard drive and defrayment it
Clear some space on your hard drive as the Virtual memory cache with this game can get a bit big at times I don’t fill my drives more than 75-80%.
Is your computer dual core the release version has problems with dual core machines but the patch almost always fixes them
Game related
Patch the game to 1.20 if you haven’t done so already the patch is downloadable from the MM web site
Point to note the game will not run whilst minimised and Alt-Tab or use of t he windows key has been known to crash it especially if it’s used whilst it’s doing something.
Try that and see what happens
