4 Questions for making new 3D ship sets

Hey guys, I've gotten permission to use dozens of the best Star Wars 3D ship models out there, baring none. I am working on a mod that will resemble the old Star Wars Rebellion game, but will hopefully get it right where Lucas Arts sucked. However, I don't know how to properly insert them into the game.

What I can do so far:

-I can convert the 3D Star Wars models into OBJ files.
-Using Wings 3D, I can import OBJ files and convert them to .X script by using the .X plugin.
-I can then directly plug the .X ship file into the game, and can get it to run.

What I can't do and need help in learning how to:

1-I don't know how to resize the 3D models in game to avoid poorly sized ships.
2-I don't know how to orient the ship so it is pointed in the proper X/Y/Z (right now all my ships point straight down)
3-Is there any way to get rid of banking when ships turn during combat? For some reason, my engine exhaust doesn't bank with the rest of the ship and it looks dumb.
4-I have texture photoshop pics that are included with these models, but I don't know how to combine them with the models so they appear in game and in the proper locations.

That is it for now, any help in this would be eternally appreciated.

In each empire's file, there is a .txt file that contains info about the models the set uses. It has variables that control scale and rotation (to properly orient your models).
