PBW ship design issue |
I'm starting a game on PBW, and have a wierd issue. This is not my first PBW game, and it is not my first (or even second, for that matter) using SE5 1.20 and BM 1.01. However this time I am seeing something "new".
In the ship design screen, it looks like the grid on which you place components does not match the ship set. I've got grid squares that go out about twice as wide as the ship graphic, and are totally different from what they normally look like (this is the ship set I usually use).
This game was set up on PBW by a third party (it's a KOTH match).
1. Any ideas what may be causing this?
2. Will this lead to problems as the game gets off the ground?

Sorry
Sorry, no clue then.

If it's a KOTH game then the slots will be the same for each type of ship for all (both) players regardless of which shipset you chose.
This is because slots from shipsets are all diferent and can cause unbalance issues due to the weapons fire being directional (long skiny ships vs fat short ships will take damage in different places) also the shipsets do not have the same ammount of inner, outer, and armor slots which makes it even more unbalanced.
to do this the host (parabolize in this case) just changes this line:
Override InvConfiguration Slots := TRUE
in the Mod_Definition.txt
it's a serious balance issue which could potentualy lead to exploits, which is why it was decided to make this standard practice for KOTH games.

BTW, how is your game going? keep us posted in the KOTH thread, we'd be keen to hear about the game as it progresses.
Just be carefull not to give anything away to your oponent while doing so

Guessing
Is it a new mod? IIRC, one of the things you can mod is an "override" placement pattern that allows for a universal placement of components (I. E. all ship sizes for each race have the same inner/outer/armor placements).
