Version 1.20 Bugs I Found |

I have found a few big bugs on version 1.20 that I consider of major importance.
1) When I sent a huge fleet of ships to a distant solar system, I took casualties, but most of them were damaged so badly they could not move. Either that, they ran out of supplies.
After pulling back my main force and sending in the "clean up crew", repair ships and resupply ships, I noticed that even after repairs are 100% complete, some of my ships still only move 4/12 or other small fractions of the speed they did before being damaged. Why?
2) Boarding ships are almost useless. How is it that when I send a ship designed to take enemy ships, the enemy ships can just keep retreating over and over, magically gaining exactly the same distance between my ship and their's each time I attack? It makes boarding ships useless and the game significantly less fun.
3) Retrofitting doesn't work. All of my ships retrofitted remained exactly the same at the cost of my resources.
4) Analyzing enemy ships did not work. When I captured enemy ships and stripped them down to analyze, even when it told me I would yield "major results" (I wanted the organic armor) I received nothing. Not even a pop up telling me I received nothing. But, I did lose the ship.
5) When I was using intelligence to sabotage ships, I ended up getting a space station to join my side. It had no supplies or ordnance. When I tried firing on it, nothing happened. When I tried giving it to an empire (even when they owned the planet it orbited) they were insulted by my gift. So, I was stuck with a huge floating pile of junk resource guzzler.
There are more, but right now I am focusing one step at a time, lol =P

4) I believe analyzing ships is fixed in the latest patch. However, organic armor can not be stolen unless you have the organic trait. Which I'm betting you don't.
5) You need a second ship in orbit to "fire on".

"Idiot"
Its not a matter of you being an idiot... you'd be surprised how many people are tripped up by such "minor" details.
You know, like the customer support guy who finally asked if the monitor was plugged into the wall

0 move
I think there's a bug in the game at the moment- nothing with zero movement points seems to die from fire on/self destruct.
Never said you where
Indeed intelligent people are the ones most likely to miss something simple if they are looking for a solution because they are looking for something more complex, and don’t recognise the simple solution. Well that’s my story and I am sticking to it.
I remember it took me hours to colonise planets with SEIV because I did not realise that you had to load people onto a colony ship for it to do any thing. I built no end of empty colonies and wondered why they did nothing
2) Boarding is usually
2) Boarding is usually useless because you have no reason to capture enemy ships.
Still, sometimes they have techs that worth investing into this, so heres what I found: boarding ships must be high speed, if the enemy flees you must have +3 speed to reach, so colony ships are easy pray (reaching basic boarding tech costs about 200k RP, so if you dont want colonizing techs fast...) but otherwise why would you capture enemy transporters? Ships that dont flee are even easier, except that your ship has to survive rushing into range, then running. Or you can just shoot them to a pile of junk first, but then you really wont get much out of it, as you cant repair unknown components, and destoyed ones wont get analyzed.
3) Retrofitting works for me too. Maybe you tried it while the ships were in a fleet? (Ive never tried that)

they are after the carrots
Probably due to the ships having no crew, repairing them will not replace crew casualties. Neither will it replace destroyed ordinance and supplies. It will however repair the container

It does but it is possible to refit a ship as its original type. You also have to have a design to refit to. This must be based on the same hull type and within 50% of the cost of the original design. I refit ships all the time and it always works for me except when I try to refit a very old ship to a very new design in one go.
Boarding only really works on cripples I have found and the best way to get lots of these is to stage a running fight between a missile frigate or frigates and the target ships as the missile boats will fight well and the damaged enemy ships will obligingly drop out of the chase for later collection. That said I don’t have much use for captured ships as mine are almost always higher tech than the AI's if it’s the stock AI this will be by a significant amount.
The other issues I am afraid I haven’t seen and all I can suggest is zipping up a save and sending it to MM (e-mail on the MM website can’t remember it at the mo)
