Description
I have met (often) AI empires with large numbers of light carriers, but no fighters, to the point where they account for the majority of enemy ships.
Cheers
both
The point at issue with AI carriers is that the AI doesn’t put enough priority into building fighters when compared with ships. If you force it to build fighters by taking over the AI for a turn an making it manually you will get fighters on the AI carriers. There needs to be an increase in the production priority of fighters when there are carriers in an AI fleet. This might be Modable but it’s a fix which stock also needs
As for the other point the site is used by both Moders and by MM as far as I am aware though it’s worth e-mailing MM directly
Re: AI carriers, no fighters
I think the fix is introducing code into the Script_AI_GlobalSettings file that puts a priority on Fighters like it does mines, satellites and weapons platforms. The in the Script_AI_Construction file you can add some code that checks carrier empty cargo space available and have it put fighters into the construction queue to fill up that space. The only question is whether the AI would order the carrier to the right planet to pick them up. Something I have not had time to look at just yet. It should work since it does launch the mines and bases correctly...and by the way outfits those properly unlike the frigates neutrals put forward.
Re: AI carriers, no fighters (update)
mostly fixed by 1.25 refer you to the other similar thread for details

Re: AI carriers, no fighters (update)
I confirm, I encountered several AI Carriers with they full complement of fighters. I even met (once) an enemy warship equipped with missiles. So, it seems the AI is definitely improving its designs (at last).

I've seen that myself.
Is this site being used by developers of the game (May just be Aaron)? Or just being used by people who are tweaking the presets/config files?
