How do I lay mines?

Soumis par duggold le Dim, 2006-12-24 15:18 Space Empires V General

I built ships with spaceyards and mine layers. I tell the ships to build mines and repeat queue. Now, how do I get them to auto lay the mines without me needing to launch them each turn one ship at a time? Also, with a level 5 space yard, I can only build 1 4 warhead mine a turn. This seems pretty slow. Ideas? Just a better space yard? Better to build more lower tech mines?

Help! Thanks! (I just want my ships to sit in place, build all the mines they can each turn and launch them). When I'm ready, I will move them and continue.

Just remember to put mine launchers on these ships, bit hard to launch them without them. The button is 2nd on the right on the middle row. Its sort of a blue double arrow.

Missed the point

Soumis par duggold le Dim, 2006-12-24 18:41

I appreciate the responses but you guys missed the point. I know how to launch them manually. I want a way to automate the following:

1. Ship - make all the mines you can this turn
2. Ship - Deploy all mines in current location
3. Ship - repeat

use the remote deploy order

Use the remote order button and set it on repeat though you would have to make sure that you have storage for the mines you are producing and you may need to have some cargo holds on the ship to do that and manually reload the mine droppers occasionally as I am not sure how well trying to set that up as a repeat loop of orders would work

Ship-based construction of mines and other units is slow. You might consider instead manufacturing the mines en masse on a planet with a decent build rate, then just ferrying them over to the intended spot.

it should be do-able with the repeat orders function. make sure you have no move left when you set it up. should do it with a planet though.
have the planet produce the mines. and the ship ferry them to their final destination. you'll get more mines per turn as well.
with no move left. select transport --> ramotly load cargo (select planet and mines) --> romotly launch units(destination and mines) --> repeat orders.

Tip though. Don't just rely on mines to protect your key systems. All it takes is for lots of ships with Mine Sweepers to go through and your in trouble.

Many players I think tend to mix Mines and Satelites over key warp points. Deploying Satelites is the same process that everyone has described above, but with Satelite Launchers rather than Mine Launchers (clearly).

Imo satelites for "real" defense (or fighters/both (eg. few resuply sats, defense sats + fighters)) and later add bases. Mines for defense aginst small/dumb attacks (it does not triger combat, so it is faster).
