How can i add more component spaces to ships if i run out of space before reaching the max weight when designing a ship?

I am tinkering with shipsizes a bit, thats why i am asking.
And yes, i filled lower, middle and upper decks

Instead of changing the ship sizes i COULD fool around with the weapons.......
But changing the shipsizes would make more sence.

You could just mod in new
You could just mod in new version of the standart equipment that you use a lot. i.e. Cargo/Supply/Ordinance/Life Supports etc I just made a 5x version of them than took 1 slot. You can do it for armor/engines/shield/laucher bays too probly.

main problem is that AI wont use them though (at least as is)

So i made my super super huge attack ship(9000kt total)using the dreadnought as a template

It all depends on which shipset you are using some have more available than others. All "should" have enough to let you do waht you want if you use all 3 levels, but I have seen one person complain that he didn't have enough space.

I think it was probably you..... get in touch with Aaron, or just use a different shipset. I can highly recommend the Ngrath one which looks fantastic.
Modding
Well, I'd say the only option is modding.
Are you sure you used ALL the spaces avialable? That seems pretty incredible -- did you try the upper, lower, AND middle decks, or just one of 'em?
