Soumis par clover le Jeu, 2006-12-07 20:00 Space Empires V General

Well its shields then armour

Soumis par cordas le Jeu, 2006-12-07 20:12

Well its shields then armour obviously, after that it seems to be weapons the engines and after that I am not sure. I would far rather it was random after armour.

From left to right on the ship display

Soumis par crward le Jeu, 2006-12-07 20:21

As I understand it, damage goes from left to right on the ship display (excepting that it burns down shields independently). How things are placed in the ship display determines where they show up on this list, and O components always precede I components.

So it's better to place

Soumis par JosEPh le Jeu, 2006-12-07 20:35

So it's better to place components Middle layer *I* than Upper or Lower *O* ?

As far as I know, the order

Soumis par clover le Jeu, 2006-12-07 20:36

As far as I know, the order seems to be:
A -> O -> I.
When in the same class,it depends on the order that the components are added to the design.
But sometimes the real order seems to be a little different with it.

Its shields, armor, outer

Soumis par azacool89 le Jeu, 2006-12-07 20:37

Its shields, armor, outer hull, then inner hull. armor is hit before the hull nomatter where it is (unless the ship only has armor and not any inner or outer hull, inwhich case then its directional). all the outer hull must be desroyed for any damage to hit the inner hull. If you are damaged form the front then the componts in the outer hull to the front of your design will be destroyed first untill its all gone. then it will slowly destroy the other onmponets around your inner hull. after its all gone then it will start on the inner hull. so put engines on the inner hull so you can ram or retreat if you have no ammo or your weapons are destroyed. this is the reason why you put armor on the outer spots in the gitty gallaxy mod by SJ. it is also why all his slots are outer hull and there are no inner hull. this is to repusent realism. he also has "armor" slots to the back of the design set. shields are going to be placed hes when they are complet. but i dont know about this as it would make then non-leaky. the leaky armor consept is what he uses. in the balance mod, all engines and weapons are on the outer hull to repusent realism. this is why weapons seem too be destroyed before engines. most players place weapons to the front and side. this means the weapons are in the closes place of directional damage and so are destroyed first. if you place engines to the front of your ship you will see that after some damage your ships start to slow but keep firing as you weapons are not destroyed yet. The game still uses the random damage patern as in SEIV but it is more directional. ie if a componet has 50kts of damage then it is more likly to be destroyed then something with only 5kts of damage resistance that is siting beside it. A 4th facter is also in this. it is called layers. in the Gitty Galaxy mod if you place armor infront of a weapon it is more likly to be destroyed but if you have a weapon in front of the armor then the weapon will be destroyed frist. so 1st is the hull slice. 2nd is the direction. 3rd is the random generator. and 4th in the layer.

There is one more thing. i

Soumis par azacool89 le Jeu, 2006-12-07 22:41

There is one more thing. i dont know and have not tested using diffrent hull hight. IE top mid and bottom. i think it works like the direction thing in the game. ie if a ship is higher then your ship it will more then likely hit a higher placed componet.
Its nice to know that i can help. its also helpful for modders

Direction damage not influenced by decks

Soumis par Captain Kwok le Jeu, 2006-12-07 23:07

It doesn't matter if the components are on different decks. There really just there to provide more slots.
