Is there Artificial World construction in SEV? |

Has there been any info released about it?
By Artificial Worlds I of course mean Dyson Rings and Spheres. I haven’t seen any screenshots of those and a forum search didn’t come up with anything conclusive.

You said once that they will
You said once that they will occupy multiple sectors, right? Will it be possible to colonize each sector of a ringworld or sphereworld separately, or will it be colonized as a whole? I ask this because if it's the former, I'd like to use that mechanic for the 21st Century Mod which will have planets instead of stars at the center of each system...

Game over, boys!

Occupy 6 rings
I believe the Ring/Sphere Worlds occupy the inner 6 rings. And you can only build them in systems with one star.

but...but...but...no
only build sphereworlds in systems with one star....thats just cruel and unusual
What about...
Artificial planets or just O'Neill-type space colonies?

I think that if you look
I think that if you look closely at the star, the star itself seems to occupy the six hexes that they are talking about, there is a definitly not only one.

A very good point
Thats something I actually noticed after my post, I have a theory though so not to worry, they say a ring world will occupy 6 hexes yes, well a ring world does still have a bit of a glowy sun left in the middle of it does it not. I assume that the 7th center hex would still be reserved for that. Probably also true for a sphereworld although you couldnt really go in and check.
It would be cool if you
It would be cool if you could slap a sphereworld on a supernova. An entire sector as a colony.

Objects are destroyed...
Planets etc. that get in the way are consumed by the process.
I'll see if I can get permission to post a screenshot of the item in question.

I think you'll probably have
I think you'll probably have to go around.

The Sphereworld pic (look in your planets directory under pictures or images) has a big gate on it... perhaps only ships allied to the ring/sphere's owner can pass?

How many facilities can you put on it?
Can you visit the planet from more than one hex?
Facilities
Well just like in SEIV you can have 100 facilities (undomed) and yes you can visit from any of the edge hexes. I havent experienced combat on a ringworld yet so i don't know if there is any difference in which hex you are on.

Looks interesting, but could
Looks interesting, but could definitely benefit from a higher-res texture.
Ring Appearance
Other rings look better. The ring's inner appearance changes based on planet type and atmostphere. Gas C02 is rather boring. Look in the pictures folder to see the other (i think the demo had the pictures with it but i removed the demo when I installed the full version)

Heh, looks kinda silly when
Heh, looks kinda silly when not centered.
Maybe it'll be adjusted in the patch. Or a mod.

Whoa...
Whoa...

and that right there is why
and that right there is why u want to rotate the system map, that would be hard to see around. Could you imagine the gravitational pull of that thing? It would be hard enough to break free of the stars gravity, never mind adding who know how much additional mass to the mix.

Thanks for the Picture
Tho, If with the star where it is, the gravitional forces would tear this ring world apart.
In one of Larry Nivins later books the ring world had jets to adjust the orbit and when the star was no longer in the gravitional center it threaten to destroy the ring world.
So, there is no way that a ring world that had the star in that position would be able to survive.
small problem
I've been trying to build a sphereworld, where do I put the starbases with the components? I put them as close as I could to the star, but when I target the spherewold generator and tell it to build it does nothing.
P.S. and yes, there is only one star in the system
Baseships
It seems that you need to have atleast 1 movement to do the construction so you need to use baseships instead of starbases.
thanks
stumbled upon then answer just as I found it, another problem might have been that my homeworls was a tad too close

The rest of the planets
Planets outside the sphereworld no longer receive sunlight,
and would quickly drop to near-zero degree frozen balls.

Not likely
And by the time you have access to unobtanium in quantities necessary to create a sphereworld, I bet you have access to artificial heating sufficent to keep the other planets alive.
There are 10 types of people in the world:
Those that understand binary, and those that don't.
Sphere world
Well, I just made my first sphere world. But now how do I get my population on it? I cant seen to colonize it, and my ships wont seem to unload cargo. Im I missing something simple????
Thanks
Just a thought... a
Just a thought... a supernova is an expulsion of gas from a giant star... the remaining core would be a neutron star which is about the size of Earth... so that wouldn't make any sense... the remaining gas forms a planetary nebula and wouldn't have the kind of structure to power a Dyson Sphere
Colonise
Just send your colony ship to colonise another outer hex of the sphere. I found that sometimes it just didnt like a hex and I could get it to colonise the current hex but ordering it to colonise the next hex worked.

There are both...
There is both Ring and Sphere worlds in SE:V.
