Description
Save errors run rampant. I'd provide a saved game, but that would not likely help, as they are not always occurring.
Around turn 40, I started to have the occasional save error, which could usually be gotten around by trying to save the next turn, or even just moving a ship. Unfortunately, come turn 55, where I am now, if I encounter a save error (non-specific, oh how I would love a debug version of the game), the only way around it is to quit and reload, and that usually only gets me a turn or two. Having to quit and reload every few turns is pretty much a show-stopper for me.
On occasion, quitting after having experienced save errors results in an access violation. If it happens again, I will record the pertinent information from the violation.
As a side note, it takes about 5-15 seconds to even start saving a game, as it has to load the 15 flags that are in play. And turn processing takes about 15 minutes to complete between the 12 major empires and the 4 'independent' planets that resulted from enemy sabotage. Having seen that one of the empires moves about 50 ships per turn, I am somehow unsurprised, although why it takes so long on a 900MHz system really boggles me. It's not like it has to animate all those movements.
