Love the game, but going to wait a little bit... |
I really love the game, but now I think I'm going to wait a while before playing it again. The patch still didn't fix everything I wanted it too, but I know there will be more patches coming. I will defintely be playing this game again. Just not until things are more stable. I will give Space Empires this kind of leniency just because I know it has a low staff. The game is really great and I hope it will get up to its full potential. Hopefully I will be back with a couple of patches or two and maybe there might be greats mods out.
Java..
..are you going to scream troll at anyone with the slightest complaint, now? That was ridiculous.
Oh come on...
There is absolutely nothing to complain about after patch 1.17. The only remaining bugs are trivial and if there are stability issues, then they are again clearly specfically PC related, not game related.
This email this guy wrote is clearly provocative and the only intent I can imagine would be to inspire someone like me to scream TROLL at him.
So, I obliged him....

Out of line...
IIRC Jake was interested more so in the Alliance features, which are buggy and only partially operational in v1.17. His post was perfectly legit and even optimistic in its tone. I agree with Phoenix, the troll label was completely out-of-line!

I'm also having huge issues
I'm also having huge issues with the alliance interface. After while when you attempt to vote on any alliance resolution it forces the entire game to crash.
I cant play it either with
I cant play it either with the current load of bugs, but i believe the next patch will do the trick. =]
Afret 76 turns
I didn't have any problem after playing 76 turns (and still playing)...
Trouble is
There have been a bit of an invasion of trolls of late so forgive people for snapping at anything negative. I don’t think what you said was trolling to be honest it’s a fair point if the part of the game are particularly interested in still is not working. I am however it will be fixed shortly along with the multiplayer issues which seem to be the most significant outstanding problem areas
The Real Troll
javaslinger,
You are the real troll dissing a legitimate polite complaint. Grow up and stop acting like a spoiled brat! Jake has every right to express his dissatisfaction and he did it rather politely.

Reasons for waiting
I don't think it's a troll at all - I feel the same way, but I'm one farther step behind - I haven't bought it yet.
I keep watching and monitoring the progress of the game. I see now that the fixes coming out in the patches are decreasingly of the "the game freezes" or "the game crashes" variety and are focusing more on the "oops, it shouldn't be behaving this way" bugs. Along the way, I'm sure a lot of people are also waiting for the next phase of bugs - the "ugh, I hate the GUI" bugs (well, annoyances, really).
I started playing SEIV late in it's life, and the existence of PBW was an enormous selling point for me - a simple, easy way to setup and find multiplayer games while automating the whole submission/execution phase of the game. I'm keeping my eye out on that "modding" community too to see if somebody steps up and provides such a "feature".
Everyone has their own reasons to wait - whether it be bugs, features, the modding community, price, or what have you.
Posting that you are waiting is good.
People saying they are waiting is not trolling as it promises more people will buy the game later depending on the performance of the game after patching which gives an incentive to MMs patching and shows to Strategy First that patching is increasing sales, in case the publishers get fidgity. I dont doubt MM are proven patchers and that it comes naturally to them as it is the way they choose to work ever since they started.
As it happens I was saying exactly the same thing a week ago, but then I began making bug reports and then I got a reply from the devs telling me the bug I reported was fixed in the latest patch. So I realised that reporting on the demo is bound to be out of date, so if I want to join in with improving it then I have to have the full game to keep up with the patches which is kind of chicken and egg but it tipped the balance for me. Then I saw the offer for SE5 plus Starfury (full game as a download) from Strategy First, free postage and discount thrown in meant it was only £16.97 which I thought was a fair price so I bought it. Hopefully it will be possible to play the game with full tactics and no crashes by the time it arrives in the UK from Canada.
Meanwhile I have Starfury to keep me busy which take some getting used to but at that price (free) its a real bargain.

Not true.
I do believe though that collecting the screen resolution used that exhibits the problem vs. brand and model of video card installed, into a single thread would be a worthwhile effort in further defining the problem.
Sincerely,
Kahn
