I loaded a savegame that froze within 2 turns (as a new minor empire is spawned and attack the other computers), and it works like a charm...

How long did you wait for it to process the turn? Are you sure it was locked up. If you had the game minimized, it stops processing unless in window mode.

Time to start fresh.....

The game I started on Friday has been a pain in the butt. Resetting the computer every second turn because it would freeze on the processing screen.
While it was geting interesting, I'm going to give up on it and start fresh with a 1.17 and .98 Balance Mod game.
The green, red and blue lines are helpful.

It's better but not fixed,
