Flashing Screen |
I know this was discussed in a previous post - Nov. 11 - I believe, but i'm wondering did anyone get a response from Aaron on the flashing screen phenomenon - i've been experienceing this since i got the game, its still there, even though i've installed both patches, and i'm curious to know if there's a fix in the works???

interesting
I also get flashing with Starfury and I don’t use either sort of messenger though I do have real player running in the background and a couple of instances of internet explorer as I play in lulls between work. I dont use any form of instant messanger and dont have it installed
Any other program that shows popups?
Do you use any other program that shows pop-ups? Does Norton shows an information window when checking mails or scanning for viruses? ICQ and MSN were just two examples...
I do
I do but I always see the pop up from it when it does which isn’t that frequent. I am assuming that your theory is caused by a popup appearing for a fraction of a second but not long enough to become visible

The flashing seems to occur
The flashing seems to occur whenever another program is showing a message e.g. virusware, antispyware, messengers, etc. I have mine set on safe graphics and it can usually recover from an episode of the messaging windows but it goes completely flash-berserk if I minimize and restore the game. I am always forced to quit and restart. An reasonable but annoying work around.

I also have flashing though
I also have flashing though I am thinking it is a local issue based on a particular computer config, video card, video ram, drivers, etc.
Have you planed around with the SEV display options at start up? There are a few choices to play with there. I have had to tone my down since because I was getting garbbled backround images.

Flashing
I think that the flashing is caused by other programs running in the background. Programs like ICQ and MSN open pop-up windows when a contact logs in, and that pop-up causes the screen to flash. It happens with other programs too.
Run SE5 in window mode, or disable those pop-ups; this should solve the problem.
