Let’s stop complaining and try to help. |
OK everyone I’ve been reading the other posts especially the “What the hell is going on here” post. I think it’s time we stop our bitching about the game bugs and concentrate on ways to work around them until the next patch comes out.
I think I’ll start a new game with a small quadrant, the least amount of AI players and have the total number of ships per player set to a minimum. If it still hangs at least there are less elements involved and figuring out what causes these hangs may not have so many variables.
I have reason to believe the game runs faster on a Win98 machine. I was running version 1.08 with about 9 AI players in a medium quadrant and the AI player turns would process in 1 to 10 seconds each. Unfortunately the game hung at “end of turn process” around turn 50. I then installed 1.13 on my XP machine and haven’t played the game on my Win98 machine since. I think I’ll try the above game settings with 1.13 installed on my Win98 machine.
For those of you who have had the least amount of trouble perhaps you could give us more details about your game settings, your hardware & what OS you are using.

Hmmm. Have you tried setting the SEV.exe to run in Win98 emulation? Open Windows explorer, Right-click on SEV.exe, select properties. Check the box and select Win98/ME emulation.
I will try this with the demo version. I normally run everything in XP, but have had some problems where applications (Imperium Galactica II) work better under Win98 mode. I'll report back on what I find about the demo.

Yeah. Good idea. Do you propose those making the work of the developers get paid for that, too?
