Claimed Systems

Is there a way to see what systems and Empire has claimed?

don´t think so. as far as i

don´t think so. as far as i seen it you can only see wich systems are claimed by enemies or by allied races.
i´m also missing that so that you can keep track of where wich race is.

Will the change it?

Has any one heard if they are going to modify the display to show you who claimed what system?

And I also hope that if you

Soumis par Kolvorok le Mar, 2006-11-14 15:51

And I also hope that if you notice that a certain planet belongs to a certain race, some sort of tag or other indicator would be placed so you could still see the owner after you have moved out of scanner range.

Right now it's really difficult to keep track on which race has which system/planet.

I also find it difficult

Soumis par Das123 le Mar, 2006-11-14 16:53

I also find it difficult keeping track of occupied planets and would love to see a way of handling this in the game.

There was a game I played years ago (can't remember which one, Stars! maybe?) that showed a muted version of the owner once you were out of visual range, and also indicated how long ago the system was viewed. It was really handy for planning follow up visits etc.

That's one feature that is well worth adding. I also find it annoying that we need to leave ships in other system to know if someone is claiming them (until long range scanners appear at least).

Remembering enemy colonies...

Soumis par Captain Kwok le Mar, 2006-11-14 22:38

I've been bugging MM for some time know about adding an enemy colony indicator. Cross your fingers.

The expanded galaxy map does show ally/enenmy systems (bugged at the moment). I've suggested a few times now that it needs to use the icons that are included with each player's flagset so you can see which empire has claimed what system. Not sure how to exactly handle systems that have been claimed by more than 1 empire though... perhaps some sort of default colour and symbol.

why not make it like in SEIV??

you could choose every nation and see what systems they claimed.

Refined Flagging System

Soumis par Das123 le Mer, 2006-11-15 05:25

Perhaps the flagging system could be refined to apply to coordinates within the sector rather than just the sector as a whole. That way we could append notes to planets, warp points etc. There could still be standardised notes but it would be awesome to be able to write a few words as a reminder.

Colonization. The non-aggression treaty in SEIV allowed you to colonize anywhere, and fight nowhere. In SE5, it can be set to allow aggression is claimed space- so they have to stay in their space and a "neutral zone". If you could claim any system, that'd be trivial to get around.

AutoClaimed

Soumis par Kalin le Jeu, 2006-11-16 09:06

Yeah, a system like SEIV won't work with the new treaties. You would set up the treaty, and then tag a bunch of system around them to keep them blocked in, etc... it would be a pretty cheap tactic.

IMO, the Autoclaim in SEV makes things a lot simpler because you don't really have to worry about being in "contested" space anymore if you can just lock that warp point down. (In SEIV, the AI would claim every system it colonize and the ones connected to it even if all the planets in the neighboring system was under your control, which usually leads to every system being contested unless deep inside your territory.)

Still, I wish we could have kept the show empire claimed systems portion from SEIV. Perhaps make the little map in top right portion of the Empires screen highlight the claimed systems of an empire when you select them on the list on the left. It wouldn't be perfect, but at least that map would actually do SOMETHING.
