Can SE5 add a hero system? |
Can SE5 add a hero system by a new patch or just a mod?
The experience system of ship and fleet seems to be useless.
Maybe the more interesting experience system or hero system will make this game more funny.
btw, I'm completely new to the SE5 so apologies if there is a simple answer I'm overlooking.
I don't think a hero system
I don't think a hero system would be appropriate at all. But, you could name an individual ship to something unique so that you can track its epic deeds.

I think the addition of
I think the addition of Heros would be a great idea. Something like MOO2 maybe.

Possible
There is an ability - not sure if it's hooked up yet or not - that gives the abilities of the component to any ship that has it in its cargo. So, for example, you give a 'Captain' +10% attack and defense ratings, and the give abilities to ship ability, and the ship will gain +10% attack and defense ratings.

You could start the game
You could start the game with 3-4 Captains, and they could be put in a ship as cargo. what other stats could be increased with captains?
Or with the religeous trait, instead of captains it could be a religeous item...
Was planned, dropped
Captains/Leaders was a planned feature, but was dropped towards the end. IMHO, it wouldn't add much to the game, compared to the cost (coding).
Experience is moddable
Just take a look at Kwok's Balance Mod. IIRC he has about 5-6 levels... (both ships and fleets) Nothing really special about them, but shows that it can be changed.

i don´t see a way to implement something like a hero system like in might and magic as there are no individuals anywhere, everything is researched and then produced. but i´m no modder, so maybe i´m wrong on that.
in the star trek mod vor SEIV you could add "Captains" to ships to raise some stats but these captains where just normal components that could be researched.
maybe a modder could add something similar and give this component some scripts that it will add up experience and so works like hero.
the other thing is, would it realy make sense to implement something like a hero-system??
i mean, this game is about massproduction of starships and then conquer the galaxy.
it would be hard to keep track of your heroes in such an enviroment.
