Ok I have built all the facilities I can build on some planets but new techs have some along that I need to build on it but I dont have any space left to build, I cannot find out how to demolish one of the old facilities to make room for the new one...
How do I do that? And is the only way to get more space for facilites to build the improvement that changes the atmosphere type to something my race can breath? Assuming that thats what that improvement does, I have yet to get 20 points in planet utilization...

Yep
The quickest way to remove an existing facility is to use the shortcut keys: Control-K
Then you simply choose which to get rid of and you'll also get a slavage value out of it as well.
Yes, the atmosphere converter is the only way to create more space, short of destroying the planet and creating a new one.
