Black Screen of Death Work Around |

I've been getting the black screen of death at the end of the AI's turn. I have found a work around. First I set the auto save to every turn. Then when The BSD happens, which is every turn now, I use the task manager to close SEV and then start it up again. When I load the latest auto save it will finish processing the turn. Don't ask me why, it just works.

Although...
Sometimes it hard crashes with an error message when you try this.
I did notice this though, and thought it might be a way to work around the alliance proposal weirdness.

Neutrals...
I just had a new game stop during the "Player Placement" screen. Bar fills up, and then nothing happens.
Ctrl+Alt+Del and terminating the app, and I get the good old Access Violation error.
My guess is that there is something wrong in how the game creates the random Neutral races. When one is generated from a rebellion (why would it make a new race from a rebellion? sounds like a new bug there) you get the black screen lockup. If it creates one in the initial galactic generation, then it locks up on Player Placement.

On this subject...
I had the exact same thing happen in one of my games. When a planet rebellion occures on an AI planet, sometimes it creates this error. If you change all the races to human controlled, and go through them each in order, you will get as far as the problem race, and then the game will self-destruct with an access violation error. All races in the list after the problem race will also create access violation errors.
If found that if I can track down the "problem race", and terminate their existance, the black screen of death goes away, and the game turns return to normal.
So, find them, and kill them all!
