Empires? |

Hello all!
I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their custom empires? I really like the story possiblity elements available in this game, and as such like to have as many interesting races as possible. Now don't get me wrong, the races that ship with SEV are interesting, but after a few games you get used to seeing the same ones over and over. So in that spirit, I'm going to post up one of my empires I use quite a bit in return to see a couple of the communities. NOTE: This is only the empire file, as at this time, shipsets are a bit of a ways off for me, as are AI files. I plan to create both of these for this race sometime in the future.
So without further ado, I present the Grental -
Empire Name: Grental Empire
Type: Empire
Emperor Title and name: Empress Thrantiik
Race: Gren, plural Grental – Humanoid
Planet Type: Rock Carbon Dioxide
Government: Monarchy
Society: Engineers
Racial Traits (2000): Smart, Foolish, Environmental Resistance, High Reproduction, Organic Manipulation
(3000): Deeply Religious
(5000): Builders, Brave, Hardy Industrialists
Biology
The Grental are a hardy people originally from the Gomak system. They have a dark green skin color and while they do grow hair on their scalps, they keep it shaved to religious reasons. Even though the average Gren stands only 5’3” on average, the average weight is around 150 pounds. A Gren can live to be as old as 60 cycles, and during that time will have as many as 20 children, with 10 being about average. Due to their sturdy construction, almost all of these children survive to maturity (~12 cycles), and most survive well into old age (~55). Due to these factors, the Grental commonly rush headlong into dangerous tasks, and as such are adept at construction, dangerous research, and combat.
Society
The Grental separate themselves into separate ‘Hives’ each run by a queen. These queens all answer to the Empress, who is the mother of all the queens in these hives. If the Empress dies all the queens break off, and declare themselves Empress of their own territories, with their daughters leading their own hives as queens. These names are used only because of their religious belief system. The Grental themselves are not insectoid in any fashion, but they do worship a type of insect that is similar to a wasp/ant colony. They react to other races with a generally calm demeanor, but due to their speedy birth rate and propensity to survive anywhere, the Gren frequently come into border disputes. The Grental themselves are fine with living near and with other races, but their religious fervor often makes other races uneasy, sometimes even escalating into full blown holy wars.
History
When the Grental first developed space travel, they settled on a planet containing an advanced species of insect. Over the years, the Gren scientists began to worship the precision and industry with which the insect worked. This spread to other communities slowly, and eventually made its’ way back to the home world. Eventually a revolution occurred, and the older system of government was replaced with the current system. During the revolution almost all older history was lost. What is still known about their past is their home planet was strangely lacking in complex insectoids, and it is theorized this is why the Grental became so enamored with their biological structure.
