A few bugs. |
Love the look of the game so far, just two little bugs are annoying.
1. Mentioned before, looping warp points where two warp points seem to be connected despite being at opposite ends of the galaxy with plenty of stars in between (normally happens with auto explore).
However I have had it twice now that on starting a new game my home system has had two warp points that seemed to be connected to each other. I would send a ship on auto explore and it would jump from one warp point and appear at the other one in the same system. I even tried it without the auto explore and had the same result.
Also noticed, with the same bug as at the top (i.e two system seem to be connected via a warp point though they cannot be) ships sent to colonize a planet in a system which has been found by telling a ship to go through the warp point manually tend to warp back to the home system about 50% of the time (also had a fleet split into two the same way).
2. Survey system, great feature, makes for more intresting game play. However it seems that solar falres keep on wiping the ships orders to survey the system. The ship enteres the system and tell the ship to survey, it then goes on it's merry way, but as soon as it hit's a square next to the sun it's orders get wiped clean and it will just sit there untill told to move away manually.

Yes definitely email that
Yes definitely email that directly to MM

Warp point calamities
If these bizarre warp point effects are actually a feature not a bug, then there should be some feedback in-game to let the player know something is amiss.
For instance, maybe one warp point has a random end-point: After the first jump, have the warp point in a different color, and text indicating that it's unstable.
If there's a random chance that something went wrong, have a miscellaneous event in the turn log indicating that a ship went off course through a warp point eddy.
If there's a warp point that has different end points and start points, have the minimap indicate this with two directional arrows.

Looping Warp Points
As yet I have not seen any problems with warp points, but if this happening even if rarely then it is important to correct this problem.
Maybe you should report this to the game designers.
