issues with BM 0.94?

Soumis par kafka le Dim, 2006-11-05 04:12 Space Empires V General

hi
up to yesterday I've been playing the Balance Mod 0.93 and had the AI seemed to play normally. I played with the AI set on medium difficulty. The only oddity I had in that game being the fact that I suddenly got a base station in a distant system I hadn't explored yet. The station was located in the same hex as a planet owned by a AI player. I don't know if this is is a bug or a feature (changing sites?). Anyway from that point on, each turn I was attacked by the AI player and had a combat event. From what I was able to see, the AI player didn't seem to have developped very well (after 60 turns) and failed in all its attempts to destroy the isolated stationBut at least, the AI players did do something. The AI thinking phases at turn resolution did take some time, too. Yesterday I installed the Balanced Mode 0.94 version and started a new game. I set the AI difficulty to hard. This was the only change I made to the previous settings. Normally the AI thinking phases started to take longer after the first 15-20 turns. But that time, even at an advanced stage of the game each phase ended very quickly as at the early stage. When I met the first AI player on one late 30th turn I noticed that it hadn't done anything. There was no communication, no ship movements, nothing at all. This morning I started a new game to test this AI behavour. After 20 turns there was absolutely no change in the time the AI takes in its thinking phases, they last just as in the beginnings. I started the old game running on 0.93 and continued on turn 71. There the AI took considerably longer to resolve its turn. I made some minor changes to the setting.txt. I set the minimum size of a large quadrant to 100 and reduced the numbers of AI players for small/medium/large to 3-3 / 4-4 / 5-5. Finally I set the number of neutral players everywhere to 0. These are exactly the same modifications I have been using with 0.93. The only change I made being the AI player difficulty set to hard. Anyone else experiencing problems with the 0.94 version?

neutral empires are prety much useless atm. normal AI empires should be working a little better than that in KwokStock though.

It was a AI Script snafu!

There was a bug with the AI files in v0.94 that left the AI doing nothing.

Extract these files to your Balance Mod directory to fix:
