MP Bugs re. My first LAN Game. Not too bad actually :) |
Well had the guys over for a little LAN party (4 machines Retail Box,XP, 1.08). Tried out a MP game and was quite amazed had no problems the game transfered all the files no problems, no work around or nothing!!
However some of the bugs that still need to be addressed were
1) The ministers kept screwing up for both the Host and Non-Host machines. Moving ships and changing research etc
Game breaker in my opinion.
2) When starting up the game the HOST empire defaulted to all players. The non host machines had their empire name but their flags were the same as the HOST as well as all their attributes.
3) Have not yet tried a saved game but will let you guys know.
I can't see the minister bug being a big problem to fix. Too bad it did not get into the next patch if so it would make MP games from a LAN playable.

Follow up
Almost... Everyone can start and do actions for their turn, but the host seems to need to complete their turn before anyone else. Once the host hits 'end turn' and ends up back at the MP 'main screen', the remote players can then also end their turn.

Glad you had fun
Good to hear you guys had a good time!
1) We have been able to get around this by either A) always having the host machine complete their turn first -or- B) having a seperate computer host so it is always on the "process turn" main screen. (It seems to be a problem of the host not receiving the remote players order files so the AI automatically controls that empire for the turn. By having the host at the "process turn" main screen it seems as though it is properly waiting to receive the remote files and it works better.)
2) We saw that problem 1 time but never since then... thought we just did something stupid
3) Let us know about the saved game, that is still a huge show stopper for our MP games.
