Crystaline Armor |
So what does this armor do thats special. Shields are the first thing to go so the only thing I can think of that makes them useful is to reflex shield bipassing weaponry back into the shields. But thats really specific and doesn't match up to organic armor in the slighest. Maybes Im wrong, can anyone enlighten me.

Crystaline Armor
Heya, I believe Crystaline armor takes less damage from beam weapons after the shields are breached.
When I am fighting them I go missle heavy.

lol
in stock that only works because the AI uses like L10 guns when it has L100 tech :/ a L100 electrical discharge or seeker parasite is so devestating that you might as well not use shields and try to use faster more agile ships instead :/ a L100 electrical discharge does 1000+ damage (just says 1K) and a max'd crystal armor gives like 130 shield points per hit max and weighs a ton... same with shields really 40kt shield gen gives 1700 shields at max and 2 20kt guns do 2000+ damage... not a good ratio there. :/
Re: Crystaline Armor
Crystaline Armor isn't what reduces beam damage. You're thinking of a different crystal component (Crystaline Diffractor or somesuch, I do believe).
There is a Crystaline Weapon that steals enemy shields. However, it requires that the enemy actually have shields, and it can't do non-shield damage.
Re: Crystaline Armor
I like organic armor myself as it regenerates its self pretty quickly at higher levels.
Re: Crystaline Armor
Aye, I intend to incorporate the stuff into my ramming-heavy strategy.

Crystalline Armor is good!
When the armor takes damage it takes a certain amount of the damage and turns it into shield points, which in effect acts like a shield regenerator. In effect, an enemy ship needs to fire more shots to destroy the ship then if it was equipped with normal armor.
