Are allegiance subverters broken? I put some on my ships, and even though they 'capture' an enemy ship during combat it reverts to enemy control after combat ends.

That's a good change. The allegiance subverters were probably too powerful in SEIV (until everyone got master computers at which point they became useless).

It's how they work in SE:V
No. It was a change in how they work in SE:IV. They only convert the crew for a period of time rather than permanently.
