Unit Repair |

How do units (Troops or Fighters) get repaired? I guess the same goes for faculties. I have taken over planets with damaged faculties that have shipyards and they never seem to repair.

Sometimes when you take over a planet with damaged facilitys, the Space Yard itself is too damaged to be used. If its colored in RED, it is too damaged to do any repairs.
Scrap it and rebuild it if you don't have any repair ships in orbit. Then it can repair the other facilitys.

Can you just ask malfador to let us give colonies (in general) abilites just like we would give a ship/component abilities? I"d love to have colonies generate "natural" supplies, for example. Or "emisive" properties to make weaker weapons useless on them (i. e. the atmosphere would dissipate weak weapons to uselessness).

You need a SY or Repair Bay
You need a planetary Space Yard facility or a ship/base with a Space Yard or Repair Bay component on it. I've requested values for settings.txt to give planets some repair for facilities, units etc.
