Issues with ships really messing up their formations in combatSoumis par glockgemini le Ven, 2008-03-21 09:27 Space Empires V GeneralBM on 1.66, full tech I want the ships to stay close to the warp point but, left to themselves, they always move out of their own weapon's range so that enemy ships coming through the warp point get in and form up unmolested. It doesn't matter if its a colony ship or an armada. So, are the ships "afraid" of the warp point? I have some ships loaded with Ripper beams and they can get out of range pretty quickly. Maybe Point Blank means 8-10 squares away. Considering that the longest weapon range is 8 squares, point blank is pretty meaningless. I guess that Maximum Range must move them to the outer edges of the combat arena. |
Another reason why the baseship combat images shouldn't be so darn bigSoumis par glockgemini le Ven, 2008-03-21 10:23 Space Empires V GeneralI don't know why baseship combat images are so darn big. For a 1500KT ship, which is 50% bigger than a dreadnaught, the screen image is 800% bigger which is bigger than many planets. Anyway, the large size of these images causes the ships to "stack" whenever they get too close to each other. Sometime they never come back back down to the "bottom" of the combat area and are hard to find when I want to issue orders. Is there a way to force the ships back down when there are no nearby ships to cause them to fly up and out of sight? I have seen any buttons to use for it. |
Unit construction amountSoumis par Zteel le Ven, 2008-03-21 11:02 Space Empires V GeneralI have a few questions about your construction of units: How many weapon platforms and satellites do you on average build on all your planets to protect them? How many fighters do you have compared to the amount of ships? The planets that have space yards are always constructing something but do you have your planets without space yards building units all the time? (I play stock) |
The 12 'Great' RacesSoumis par eberk le Ven, 2008-03-21 11:22 Space Empires V FAQsCan I play as one of the 12 standard example races (the ones on the Tech Tree, like for example the Jraenar). I would like to play as one of those but can't figure out how. And if that's not possible. Is there a list somewhere with all the stats and traits for those races (so I can create them myself and play with them thus...) Thanks for the input |
Analysis in BMSoumis par rahlubenru le Ven, 2008-03-21 14:06 Space Empires V GeneralWhat's the largest tech gap that can be closed by analysis because I keep analysing the enemy ships and getting on returns, I'd presumed it could close a 2 level tech gap, maybe is it only 1 in BM? If it is a 2 level gap then I'll keep at it and hope |
System Hang ProblemSoumis par Bones le Ven, 2008-03-21 19:08 Space Empires V FAQsAnybody ever have a problem with SE5 hanging at the “processing after all player turns” part of the game. I am running ver 1.66 using balance mod v1.12. It happened well into the game, initially I thought the PC couldn’t handle the game – 3.0Gb Intel CPU, 2Gb DDR400 Ram, Invidia GForce FX550 AGP vid card running Vista Ultimate. But I tried new game – standard SE5 and it did the same thing at the end of the first turn, using a small galaxy and only 3 AI players + myself. Sounds like the SE5 app is screwed to me. But before I reinstall, I thought I’d check it out with you guys. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Cheers |

Quadrant Map optionsSoumis par droigellack le Ven, 2008-03-21 22:21Iwould like to have the option to start a new game with all the stars shown on the quadrant map like SEIV. I don't think it makes since that a space faring race can't tell where other stars are with out visiting them. Curently the only way I've fount to start with the Stars shown is to select "All systems have been seen by all players" in game options before the game starts. Unfortunatly this also fills in all warp points on the quadrant map and has every system explored for all players at the start of the game. That negates any use for exploration (THE FIRST X!!) except to find the other empires. |
