StorageSoumis par bpleshek le Lun, 2008-10-27 14:58 Space Empires V GeneralWhat does everyone recommend for storage for small, medium, and large games in the beginning, middle, and end phases of the game? In one game I had around 200k storage and it got me by a period of massive negative growth. I wasn't, however, at war so I only had modest WP defense fleets. Can anyone give me some suggestions? Is it worth it?Soumis par Arkhan le Lun, 2008-10-27 16:48 Space Empires V GeneralHey everyone. I know I am kind of asking what could be a biased group but I recently downloaded this game on GameTap to check it out. I never bothered before because it basically seemed like a text game that wasn't very developed and would probably be disappointing. Well needless to say I was wrong. The lack of pretty graphics is the only detail that seems to be missing. Whoever thought all this up deserves a nice round of applause. Anyway, after I got done with the tutorial I was in shock. Because it didn't teach me much really. Too many unanswered questions like what are the uses of the different ship decks, what about combat, diplomacy, and all those other buttons at the top that I haven't used yet? So I started looking around for info before I was lost completely. (GameTap chooses the worst games to not have manuals with) Then I started reading all the bad reviews on bugs left and right, lots of options that in the end serve no purpose or benefit except to take up more time, turns that take 30 minutes to process, and a dumb AI that is not logical or even a challenge. |

temp_xxx.dat files in /temp/ filling up hard driveSoumis par wireb le Lun, 2008-10-27 18:29 Technical SupportAnyone out there able to answer what the temp_xxx.dat file in the SE5/temp/ directory are for? Right now when we process turns more and more of them keep getting created. The last turn I tried to process is still going (may be stuck in a inf loop from the look of things) and I have run out of HD space... Looking around I found this directory had 166 files taking up 32Gb of space (40Gb drive). So the question is do I need to have all these files sitting there till the turn is complete or can I delete the old ones once SE5 creates a new one. I can set up a task on the server to check this directory and prune the files once more than 5 or 10 show up but not sure if this will break anything. |
