They should change the Stock

They should change the Stock data files to BM w/FQM and just ship that as stock. Seriously, its way better than regular stock, more balanced, better AI. Aaron couldn't get mad, after all Captain Kwok and Fyron couldn't have made their excellent mods without SE to begin with. But, they have made them and, sorry Aaron, its better than your stock game so if you wanted to increase the new players enjoyment of the game, implement BM w/FQM as Stock!

p.s.- the only thing is that that would mess with Unnamed's stock AI mod which is awesome in itself ...hrm.

One way ticket bug

Unfortunately didn't save the game as it was right near the start and it didn't occur to me to keep it for debugging but I encountered a warp point that randomly about 6 turns later lost one end, thereby becoming a one-way door. It was possible to use it but you couldn't get back because that end was missing.

Just wondered if anyone else has encountered this problem before?

I've encountered a bug... with large galaxy, sometimes the System has no name, so the planet will be named only by the number. In gameplay this isn't a great problem, but... I think maybe it's a bug?

I have been reading the various posts about the games complication and cult like appeal. As many of you know this game can be very overwhelming to the new player and especially to someone with little 4X experience.

What I've done here is take CaptainKwok's BalanceMod and strip it down to what I would call the bare essentials. This version still maintains all the galactic feel, but with what I would call less complication. All the key ingredients of strategy and play are still here, but on a smaller scale.

I think this version will have some nice unforeseen advantages. I think the AI will do better with less to work with. Also, the games should play fast and efficiently.

Enabling Cheats on UK keyboard

Hi, I am trying to activate the cheats and nothing seems to work. I have changed the hotkey to do so. When i press the hotkey it comes up with cheatcode, i type in the code, eg - alltech and then press the hot key again but nothing happens. Am i doing something wrong, sorry but I am a noob to the game forum. All assistance is much appreciated.

Blockade

Can somebody explain how I can blockade a planet and what the use is of blockading ?

I tried blockading a planet during a test game (where I controlled the 2 players) but nothing really happened... The 2 frigates stayed into orbit of the planet and that planet could continue to produce all it wanted... So what does blockading do ?? And how do I do it ?? (enough ships or ... ??)

Stream Read Error.

I keep receiving a message saying "Stream Read Error", the game screen minimizes and then crashes. I've no idea why it does this, it does it on the same exact turn each time i reload it, i think it has something to do with the system screens. At first i had a few ships auto-move, but these caused the game to crash, so i went back a few turns and manually moved my ships so when it came to this turn again it went straight to the news feed. I close that and the game crashes again with the error message.

Anyone know why it does this?

Edit: I've sort of tracked down the problem, i'm unable to look at many of the systems in the game, why i don't know.

Strategic Combat

How do I land troops on a planet during a strategical batlle ??? (I am playing a multiplayer game with only strategic combat)

I have a Pop. Transport I loaded with Troops and each time I try to attack with the Transport, its runs away without dropping troops !!

Please tell me how I can fix this (I really would like that planet Smiling )
