Disable Spying: Playing without Espionage

When setting up a game what steps need to be taken to eliminate espionage from gameplay? I remember vaguely that several things had to be done in SEIV and I have no idea how to manage it correctly for SEV.

Dark Nova 5.00 into beta testing

Well, the start to Dark Nova 5 has been completed I've got a very small group doing some beta testing now. For those of you who have been awaiting Dark Nova for SEV or those of you who are looking for new mods for SEV, the wait is almost over.

Anyone interested in beta testing this mod, drop me an email or PM and I'll get you in Smiling

For those of you familliar with Dark Nova for SEIV, this version is very similar to what was Dark Nova 2.

I'm using www.spaceempires.net forums for my main discussions if you want to contribute or lurk.

Google SketchUp for shipset modeling?

At the initial release of Google SketchUp version 4, I was excited about how it could be used for making SE5 shipsets, but then I found that you needed the $400 pro version to export to anything but Google Maps format.
Today, though, I happened to go back to SketchUp and noticed that it's at version 6 - and lo and behold, while it doesn't have .X export even in the professional version, it DOES have an XML-based format called "Collada" (aka .DAE) and it appears that that option is in the free version as well...
I wonder... if there is a Collada -> X converter out there, we might be able to use this nifty program to make SE5 shipsets?

Mod Question about shipsets

Not sure if this is the place for this, if not, i apologize. I put in some new shipsets in my game and they look great, and i noticed in my last campaign 2 of the races were in the game as comp players. Funny thing was it was like they did not exist. They absolutely did nothin thru out the game so i eliminated them.

So i was wondering, since they are just shipsets, does this mean i have to create, in the add race column when i'm in game set up screen, the race then save as comp player for them to work in game?

I noticed in some of the files of the shipsets i downloaded,they had race traits and A.I documents with them already, does that mean they will play as an A.I. race, with out help? Or do i have to move some of these files around?
