So what, no new beta change logs?!

Hi!

I'm just wondering why there are no new beta change logs beeing published since v.1.63. Any idea?

To me it seems as if there are still some things to tidy up:
- user interface: allow the common copy&paste functionality
- save custom list layouts independent of save file
- save designs independent of save file
- automatically name ships according to a textfile (indstead of Anaconda 001..999)
- ship design: allow change of layer with component selected
- ship design: implement more intuitive sorting and grouping of components
- abilities: give mounts the ability to change reload time

Direct Play online

Sorry if this is too simple a question, but I don't actually have the game in hand yet. Is it possible to set up a multiplayer game online and take turns without everyone online and running the game at the same time? Also, I assume that you can play this online remotely - i.e. everyone from their own homes. Can someone point me to NAT/Router setup documents, or just tell me what ports need to be opened/forwarded?

Trying to create a new main empire... Help!

Okay, as the topic says, I'm in the process of making a new... well, sort of... main empire for added story value into the game. (So if I release it for some reason, don't expect anything flashy. It's also, in large part, my efforts to learn the system step by step.)

Anyway, I've run into a couple problems.

First of all, how do you set up the empire's race point distribution?

Second, when modifying the _AI_General file, I found this little thing:

Personality Group := 1

What is that? Would anyone care to tell me what the different personality types are

Looks like MM is back to work.

Version 1.64:
1. Fixed - Nebulae events had an incorrect picture filename.
2. Fixed - Game would hang during end of turn processing when a new empire was created.
3. Fixed - The Ships List window was sorting crew amount as text instead of as a number.
4. Fixed - Using the "All Ministers On" button in the Empire Options window would cause
planet and ship reports to not show their individual minister icon.
5. Fixed - Norak cruiser and battleship had switched models.
6. Fixed - Sometimes an AI seek order would cause the game to lockup.

Should I bother?

Hi all, first time in here, so, eh, hi!

I love my strategy games and wargames. Playing them since the SSI days (mid 80s for me) and have played thousands of computer games. (most of them strategy, wargames, simulations)
Unless we are talking about winSPMBT and Colonial Conquest (SSI), I am only looking for single player games for a while now.
So, leaving aside any multiplayer modes, is it worth investing time into Space Empires V? I am very worried because every review and preview that I have read of it so far has one same comment. Great game, pity about the AI.
Now, I am not demanding the best AI or anything, but is it at least good enough to pose a challenge without giving it a huge bonus in areas such as production etc?
