How to remove mines from game?Soumis par inertiatic le Sam, 2007-11-03 10:49 Space Empires V GeneralHi all, I should start by saying im really enjoying the game now that 1.58 has fixed most of the major bugs, and with Captain Kwok's BM 1.11 the AI makes for a fun, challenging game. However, the heavy use of mines is really annoying me (this may only refer more specifically to the Balance Mod) - fair enough to everyone else that likes them as part of the game but personally I hate having to think about minesweepers etc all the time, and having entire fleets decimated seemingly at random moving through warp points etc. As you might remember, SE4 had an option to remove the use of mines in a given game. I can't see any reason why the same option shouldn't be in SE5 but sadly we arnt given that choice any more. |

I was thinking of creating a new "Domed Colonization" tech to allow colonization of non breathable planets. There would be six Colony components then: Breathable and Domed Colony for each planet type. Anyone know a way to implement it? |

Specialized Research LabsSoumis par ekolis le Sam, 2007-11-03 12:44 SE:V MODsYears ago there was discussion about "specialized research labs" in SE4 - bascially, you have a limited number of tech areas (say, 6 or 8 like in Stars! or MOO2) which grant all kinds of miscellaneous stuff in their broad categories, and no specific techs for individual components, etc. You also have an equal number of types of research labs (biology labs, physics labs, etc.) which can ONLY be used to produce research for their specific area. Well, I think I came up with a way to implement that in SE5! 1. Remove the research labs from the game, we don't need them anymore. |

For those of you who followed Nebula rising and are wondering what has happened to the game/story...well it is still active, but turn times have been very slow over the last 3-4 weeks. I hope this game doesn't slow down just when a huge quadrant wide war is about to break out. Anyway, For Warp Storm Wars I've prepared some empire flags for the players who wish to write about the game. Just put the image at the top of your post... The one I downloaded from here doesn't seem to work with version 1.58 (or I am doing something wrong with it). Also, can anyone help me with doing some basic modding myself, or perhaps someone can write a mod or two based on my ideas? One thing I want to do is design my own ship set for my empire/race. I have the designs in my head, but have never really done that sort of thing on a computer. Anyone who can help please send me a message or post a reply, thanks. |

I would hate to do it hot seat style but if I have too I will... |

I'm running a p4 w/ 2.9 processor and 1 gig RAM with the latest patch and thebalance mod. Game is medium size and medium #empires and about 50 turns into the game. It takes my comp anywhere from 4 to 6 minutes to get thru ONE turn!!! Is this the norm???? |
