Changing hex grid 'height' in sector view

Soumis par Reiver le Mar, 2007-11-20 06:49 SE:V MODs

I was wondering if it was possible to either change the hex grid height, or whether the model files (Which I admit I haven't yet looked at very hard) have an easily-modifiable way of having their center-of-model lowered, such that the models sit with their equators (Or gaseous/asteroid equivalents) in line with the hexagons?

The idea being that tilting the hex grid down to a near-paralell angle will no longer cause depth-of-field issues for the game of 'which hex has the planet in it'...

Lack of resources....what?

Soumis par YoshiSato le Mar, 2007-11-20 12:14 Space Empires V General

I'm playing version 1.63 with the BalanceMod 1.11.

All the construction yards in one of my border systems keeps giving "lack of resources" every turn. I have over 300k of minerals in storage, 1000k+ of organic and radio and I'm a net positive on everything. There are space ports in this problem system. Why is this happening? I was building stuff here before.

This system in question is about 10 - 12 jumps from my core system and 2 jumps from my nearest colonized system. The 2 systems between have nothing in them(no planets, justt space)

I should also point out, this problem system is a contested system.

Efficient and High Performance version of Engines

Soumis par HeberMagalhaes le Mar, 2007-11-20 12:30 Space Empires V General

Im trying to implement efficient and High Performance version of the Engines being:

Efficient - Low supply consumption and less movement generation
High Performance - High supply comsumption and more movement generation

I created new components but I dont want to clog the ship design screen with three versions of each engine. Is there a mount ability to increase/decrease both supply usage and movement?

modding in the crew of a ship/station

Soumis par Tilarium le Mar, 2007-11-20 13:38 SE:V MODs

I remember this being discussed not long ago but can't remember which thread so thought I'd reask. Can anyone tell me how to go about modding it in so that componants require crew and the amount of life support is based on the total crew requirement? I've been reading some of the mod guides but to be honest they just confuse me because it's alot of stuff I don't need.

For the record I'm using balance mod 1.11 and will end up using the SE V Editor 1.58 to make the changes. Smiling Thanks for the help on this gang!

Oh... and the AI should be smart enough to handle this, right?

How do you ask for peace?

Soumis par Antarian le Mar, 2007-11-20 14:10 Space Empires V FAQs

Forgive me if this has been asked before,

But is it me or is it confusing now on how to make peace with an empire in SE V?

Is making peace simply getting them to agree so some basic level of treaty? Or is there a place somewhere in the messages area where you can directly request that you both pull back from the war status? I can't seem to find it.

I think there should have been a 'peace treaty' as an option. This sets the status back but still causes conflict whenever units intersect.

Planetary Self Destruct (aka To Glass or Not to Glass, that is the Question)

Soumis par inigma le Mar, 2007-11-20 17:33 Space Empires V General

I was wondering how hard it would be to mod in a planetary self destruct device - the ultimate scorched earth weapon. Is it possible?

I'm looking for a device that would enable a command that could destroy the planet at-will, and would subsequently annihilate the system and everything else in it. It would prevent me from having to build a more expensive star destroyer ship.

Or upon successful invasion, would at least destroy everything in a sector radius.

Or upon successful glassing, would do the same (to discourage players from glassing planets and force them to put boots on the ground).
